Mount Martha - VIC
A slightly delayed report. Went to Mt Martha on Friday. We managed 7 squid in the evening. Mostly pretty small ones <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' /> And we caught 3 small garfish.
Well done mate. I haven't caught any at Mordialloc pier in last few days.

Had a shot at Mt Martha on sunday arvo. No garfish around at all.

I got a tiny sweep and a zebra fish.

Almost caught a squid on dark but it let go.

We saw maybe 3 or 4 small squid in the evening but they were not very keen on the jigs and just touched them and then ran away! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':boat:' />

Cheers, Glen

Hey everyone,

Went to Mt Martha this arvo. Was a beautiful calm afternoon and the water was super clear. There was very little rain.

For a bit of a change we put tuna oil in the burley but it did not seem to help at all. I will go back to plain bread next time I think.

In the evening we caught 4 medium squid and 3 garfish. There wasn't much fish activity (ie i couldn't see many fish swimming around in the water despite the clear water). I saw some zebra fish but they were very shy and did not hang around for long unfortunately!

Cheers, Glen

tried Mt Martha on sunday. Weather was ok until about 4pm and then it got very windy so we gave up around 5pm I think.

did not see any squid or any fish! Quite a few fishers and no one else caught anything as far as I could tell.

Hi Glen

dont forget that tackle companies will always say they are biting somewhere....they want us to go fishing and buy tackle!!

I dont mean to sound like a conspiracy theory..sorry.

hi rob, i was just about to post a mt martha report. We were there for about 7 hours on sunday. We got one nice squid around 3pm. Then I got a tiddler in the evening. It was pretty slow fishing. There was barely any fish about at all. I only got one smallish zebra fish and a couple of toadies.

good work glen, we havent been going out that much for squid , the crowds on some of the piers irrates me a bit,

me and luxy have been doin alright land based for gummys the last few weeks.

good work on the garfish, are you burlying for them off the rocks there, whats your methods for land based rock fishing for gars!!!
Reply
we use bread burley but never see the garfish come close like they used to. they are few and far between. though the ones we caught were bigger than average and better takers.
