Hi everyone,

I fished Mt Martha yesterday with my dad.

We caught quite a few garfish plus around 10 squid. The squid were all pretty small though.

hi guys,

i fished mt martha on saturday with my dad.

we got about 8 small squid and maybe 10 garfish between us. It was fairly rough and windy.

I tried some bottom fishing but barely had a nibble.

Happy fishing,

Cheers, glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Hi guys, I went to Mt Martha this arvo. We got 6 medium squid. And 2 garfish!

There was practically no fin fish around so we at least were lucky enough to get some squid <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

i went through all this thread because i was considering going to mt martha to see what is there. i got the street names of what u guys said and went there. all i see is rocks under water and low depth water. how are squid there or fish ? u gota launch it very far to get a decent depth out of it ??? iv heard plenty of fishing reports at mt martha, snapper, salmon, garfish but i dont know where it is in mt martha. i parked alongside each parking lot following the espande road....didnt like the depth of the water. low with heaps of rocks.

hi there, the deepest water you can reach is maybe 4-5 metres deep. The squid might only be in 3 metres of water but usually only worth trying early or late/evening. i never had much luck for squid during the day. but if you had a boat you could drift over the narrow reef and probably do pretty good.

Went to Mt Martha yesterday. It was a lovely day to be out. We got quite a few garfish during the day and about 7 small squid just on dark.

Caught a fair few small squid at Mt Martha this evening. Bit windy but water was still nice and clear <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Was pretty overcast which got them going earlier than usual. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

good work glen, i have been catching heaps of smaller squid lately hopefully the biguns will fire up soon. i hope.

looks like me and my fishing buddy are going down to mt martha tommorrow night, first time for me fishing off the rocks there.

got any tips for me mate. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

yep.

tip no 1 - pick a spot where there are a few cars parked and then you will probably find it easier to walk down to the rocks. it can be a bit tricky in some places <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

tip no 2 - stay until dark. most squid don't move until evening <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

tip no 3 - say hi to the big sting ray for me...seems to follow me around hahaha <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Well, we caught a couple of squid each.

And had a bit of excitement when a P plater in a WRX ran a bit hot coming into a corner on the road above us, hit the cliff bank, then shot across the road and ended up in the teatrees, just before falling all the way down to the water... so if the fish/squid arnt biting, there is always some action on the road above! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Im getting some lights put on my kayak soon too, so I will be able to paddle around there and fish at night then.

Easier to paddle out there and fish all along the rocks, than walk up and down the goat track to the fishing spot! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
