I give everyone a Clue here..Just go and find a place that is completely Dark...If you got a boat? take em outta winter hibernation..Yes this is where a generator is priceless..
Go look around places in the puget sound that is just pitch BLACK...FYI..You actually don't need a boat for this either as Puget Sound has many of these kind of places..
And for those who go to that Island..You know which one I'm referring too that has just been a Squid Massacre...

Its about time blake island hit. lol or was that mckinly, hearstine, banbridge , oh no whidby , nah probably sqauxin, but possibly anacortes. i did hear there hitting in the v of the dock where ever it is.

Thanks! I definitely don't expect anyone to share their EXACT location. But, the Puget Sound is HUGE, so I thought I'd ask for some general hints to help narrow it down. And, seeing as there's only ONE person on this forum catching squid (limits of jumbos, no less!), of course I had to ask. Thanks again for the tips. Happy squidding!

Actually Blake Island is pretty good..Avoid the south and north side of the Island as it is way too rocky...Try the West side of the island where it's nice and sandy.."Squidage territory"
I would go there more often if there weren't so many other good spots that are closer..

Hello,
I was thinking about taking my boat and generator in the little bay that is just north of shilshole/golden gardens, anchoring in about 30' of water and trying my luck there. I know it is a pretty sandy bottom there. Does this sound like a reasonable idea or am I missing something? Should I head a little farther south?
Any thoughts on boat vs dock?

Actually Go towards Karkeek Park in that bay...Go towards 80-120 feet of depth..You can go up north and just coast the whole bay down..Also a very active squid spawning ground...Good luck and hopefully you get SQUIDAGED!

Just remember if the tide is going out..Start from SW of Carkeek Park and drift..If the tide is comming in go NW of Carkeek Park..The idea is to drift towards the middle of the bay..
Make sure you keep an eye on your depth and the shore as it will be pitch black out there..(Just make sure you don't pull a Titanic with the shore on your boat) and shut off your engine when you drift..
If your at the park and facing north..The spawning ground is about 9 to 11 o clock and about 1/5 mile out from Carkeek Park..at a depth of 40ft+
But don't let this bit of info discourage you from exploring other parts of that bay..

The commercials really go after Puget Sound squid? I was under the impression that it wasn't worth it to them to do that. I wonder how much a pound they are getting? With the price of fuel, the profit margin can't be all that great.

I remember making a couple of reports of good squidding this season and the next night lots of folks showed up down on the piers I reported on. The funny thing is that the
squidding sucked bad the night after the reports. I guess the squid read them too and avoided the areas. Luckily, I had witnesses to back me up on the reports.

Decided to give it a quick shot at 69 got 3 squid. Guy with the light had maybe 15. School seemed to stick around. Thick skool of herring

Got 16 on friday night at 69 after a few hours. Went saturday night after the sportsmen show to try some new jigs out, ZERO at 69 (in the dark) and at shilshole

Tides don't seem to matter. Jigs do. Just have to be there when the squid show up. If seals are around the squid take off. Seems they don't like to be chased and eaten.
Speaking of seals: are any of you taking matters into your own hands and dealing with seals with a firearm? News reported that a number of seals have been found dead - many of them in the south sound. One in the Seattle area. They are a protected species. So, whoever gets caught will be prosecuted and fined.

From awhile back guys on this same forum was talking about the seals. If you shoot/aim at them and dont kill or injure the seal your fine.
