Saw a school of about 200 last night at the Port Angeles Public Pier.

hey, Whitewolf to have the school of 200 stay, catch somefresh herring. Then grind it up to small chunks then through spoonfulls out! That way they stay around longer and try to attack your jig!

Okay, as soon as the honey do list is done, I'll try that!
Thanks

Fished Edmonds at 5pm for Kings with a 2 ounce crippled herring with a mini- glow hootchie on the hook! as soon as I brought it up! SQUID! yes SQUID at Edmonds at 5pm on a Cloudy day on incoming tide! A school of 40 came up! then ran to the car to get squid jigs and ran back! caught 3 missed a few others. and had a few other followers! Winter squid coming in to Pt. Angeles/ Townsend area! Should be in Edmonds by the end of the month! Mine were probably summer squid!

About ready to give up at the Port Angeles pier. Saw a few yesterday and had one grab the jig but didn't hook him. Tonight we saw a few but no takers. It seems like they always show up between 11 and 11:30 then we never see any for the rest of the night. Some one said they saw some at John Wayne marina but I don't think the gate is open at night. I think I'll make a run during the day and check the hours.

What kind of jigs are you using? Did you try scent on them - smelly jelly?

I guess the only way I'm going to catch squid is once in a blue moon.... O'ya... this is a blue moon so that's why I caught squid!
The school wasn't very big but I managed to catch 4 before some kid started smacking the water with the end of his pole. I don't know what he was trying to do but he chased them off. Got enough for a taste anyway. Going to try again tomorrow. @Mekim, I just have a standard cheep set of jigs. Didn't try to scent them. It didn't seem to mater because no one was catching any that night. Last night was the first time anyone has had any luck. It just had to be the blue moon. :0)

There is nothing more hilarious then a bunch of grown men running up and down a pier giggling like a bunch of school girls.
The squid were in around 10pm for about an hour in Port Angeles before a seal made them scatter. They'd disappear from one slip and someone would yell their over here! What fun! :0)

Saw a handful of squid follow my jig up to the surface missed one and they vanished. at Kingston at about 930 fishing for 10 minutes

We got to the Port Angeles pier around 9:50 and there were thousands of them. They don't seem to be interested in the jig. The ones we caught were snagged. They were so thick you couldn't help but snag one. They were gone by 10:30 and didn't see anymore.

The seal was back at the Port Angeles pier tonight but this time he helped! He herded them right to me. Took home a full limit! :0)

Mekim, im heading out to Edmonds on friday night with a friend and her generator. Im sure with Seattle, it's slow for this time of year. Traditonally Winter squid start showing in Edmonds by now and will be in through Edmonds till about october/november. Thanksgiving to Christmas is Seattle. Christmas through Feburary is the South Sound areas like, Tacoma to Olympia. there's a probability for some humbolts in the hood canal through the straight in the ocean by now. good luck
