Willy,------- I'm not doing it for the cost saving's, Man if I were for doing it for that I'd give up fishing,

I estimate my total fishing equipment including boat in my opinion to be in the vicinity of

$ 18,000 to $20,000

I'm doing it for the satisfaction of it, so I can say to myself "I did it" I designed a jig that is perfect,

there is no way this squid can come off, no matter how hard he try's, he may rip his tenticle's off

in the process, but he just did not fall off, ## Just an up date on the proto type's ## I have decided

on the placement of the jag's on the body, { they are stainless steel by the way }

because of where I've put them, they cannot be in touch with the sea floor at all, so they will have to be

cast and retreive on a float, {varied depth's} or just left on a float and jiggled, once it touch's the bottom

it's byebye jig, this is one of the draw back's of designing an " All Angle of Attack jig"

It's having to make compromise's, it's not such a step back I think? most hook up's are mid water

or just close to the bottom, not on the actual sea floor, the only one's Ive caught on the very bottom

are cuttle fish and octopus, and I'm not targeting them, Cheer's Pete.

hey

squidders

Razorbackss????? hmmmmm I can take them or leave them but one thing you must make sure of and that is to set the jig into the tentacles

Most lost fish are the result of not giving the line a healthy tug once you feel the weight of the squid, but not too hard or youll rip it straight out

Squid poles have a good hook up rate because they spring back under the weight of the squid hence setting the jig into the squids testicles oops I mean tenticles

If I can catch squid on a paint brush handle with three barbless hooks attached

then I cant see why razorbacks should be a problem

Its hot time 4 a beer or two or three

I am an unbeliever as far as razor back jigs go. Its all a gimmick. I have NEVER, EVER, EVER caught a squid on the middle barbs. EVER.

Whats more you get a crap quality jig to boot. Mine had its barbs just fall out. Sad isnt it? The moral of the story is, dont ever touch a Razorback jig.

90% of the squid i catch take the middle barbs - its a fact that squid attack their prey in the middle - hence the placement of the barbs - you guys must wind in too quick, and your squid all attack from the back, not the side!!!

That is very strange behaviour from the squid you catch Mr Willy. My squid, no matter what speed the retrive, attack from behind in 95% of the time when theres visual contact. In fact I see them moving directly to behind the jig if they were originally from the side. When i had the Razorbacks i caught NONE on the middle barbs, again regardless of retrieval speed. We are not belting the jig across the surface like spinning for bonito! :blink:
