Hi,
was wondering if anyone has had any success or thoughts on squid fishing from a kayak .
I am thinking of heading out around the eastern bays of Auckland one evening so am interested to know if it is worth the effort to take some squid jigs.
thanks

Thanks Jazman, I will try next time. Do you fish with a second rod for squid while after snapper or do you specfically target squid?
Also what sort of rig do you use, is it a typical 3 jig rig?

I do both - if I'm fishing for snapper (10-20m depth) I usually have a second rod out with a squid jig. I also specifically target squid over shallow reefs and weed beds (1-5m depth). For the latter I fish with 2 rods, with only one jig per rod - one rod has a jig about 1.5m under a float, and I cast/retrieve the other jig. I've tried more than one jig on a line, but find that the tangles are not worth it.
