Where's all the reports from GI? This thread is dead!
I'm heading up to the bridge tomorrow night with a buddy of mine for his first ever squid trip. If anyone is going to be up there, come say hello. I'll be the 6'2 big guy w/ goatee probably on the hyatt side of the bridge.

Hey fluke your coming up from CT right? Might want to rethink your trip. Heres my report, I just got back. Fished from 9:30pm-4:40am
First stop GI for 2hrs it was DEAD..maybe 5 cars there. Only seen about 2 medium size squids brought up, fishing with no light. I got zero
Second stop FT Adams for 1hr..seen 2 lights from the docks. I went straight to the end of FT Adams, facing Newport bridge. Didn't see anyone pull anything up. No sign of squids, only bait.
Third and final stop FT Wetherill. Place was packed with cars. very slow, the whole time I was there, seen about maybe 15 squids pulled up. All medium to small. I caught my only two there, also caught a 21" bluefish around 3am. I really didn't see what people was catching the squid on. Only seen that their jigs was small, maybe 2.5 to 2.0 size jig. I was using a 2.5 size jig I bought from Ebay.
My thoughts since the wind was blowing from the west. Which made for some pretty choppy waters at GI and FT Adams. Some of the squids went to hide out at FT Wetherill. Since over there gave protection from the wind and the waters was really super calm.
This was my last trip for squid till next year. Your best bet for squid if your going to come up, try FrancesFleet. From their reports, people seem to walk away with anywhere from 1/4 to a full bucket. GL to anyone who is going to try this weekend. Time to put my sights on the bigger fish.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately my buddy won't be able to get to my place until around 5:30/6pm so there's no way we'd make the boat on time. It was very very windy last night so i'm not surprised the fishing was off. There's only one way to find out. I just think its strange that this thread is so dead. Are people just not fishing or are they catching and not posting so their spots don't get blown up? I tend to think its the 2nd option.

i haven't been posting because i haven't gone out... usually i would hear from other people not on this forum about how the squidding season is going... i haven't heard anything so i'm calling it quits... although there are good news coming from the frances fleet, but i can't find a day to get out there with them <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Well those aren't reassuring reports but what the hell...i'm gonna head up tonight anyway. Like I said before, i'll be on the hyatt side of the bridge most likely. If anyone is going up, feel free to come fish with us. I'll do my best to post an update from the bridge tonight so if the squid are in, at least some local people might be able to make it over there in time to load up on some.

success! On the way home from gi with third of a bucket. Squid were there all night but were finicky. We caught them all on weighted medium jigs w/ no weight on the line. Not sure what type of jigs they are....will take a pic and post tomorrow. If only we had switched to them in the beginning of the night! All in all not a bad night.

just got back from GI... fished from 8 pm until 11 pm before calling it quits... i didn't catch anything... tried all types of set ups, all colors, all shapes and sizes, hi-lo jigs, single jigs, nothing! some people near me were catching them... there were alot of squid out there... mostly juveniles... they were not aggressively feeding at all... i give up! epic fail !!

Went to JT last night from 8p-4a half bucket. Most med to small, some large and some were very large. When the tide moves the squid slows down untill the tide slows down.

I haven't been to G.I. in a couple of yrs.
Can you park along G.I. bridge now?
Has it thinned out a lot since a license is needed now to catch squid?
Where is Green Hill? Thanks.Thanks.
