When you get a squid to the side of the yak grab it behind the head and hold it in or out of the water, it'll usually squirt then if it hasn't already.

Just beware of monster Kingfish, they might grab your hand and drag you under. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />

i'm pretty keen on give the kayak a go, shame I don't ave any transport to carry it with me or money to get one. You should invest in some small net pull it in then leave it in the net till it tired of squirting ink then bring it on board.

up the north coast i had two great days of squidding from my yak
these a fairly longish paddle to a spot only accessible from yak it was deep and the squid were there in large numbers
just hauling them in <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fishing.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fishing.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' />
first day they liked the small olive green 1.2 yamashita and then they wanted the 3.0 yo-zuri natural colour and then they wanted the 2.0 bronze yamashita

Only caught one calamari from the yak in less than a metre of water at Fingal bay. Whacked it straight in the hold so it probably inked everywhere. I keep wanting to take the yak to boat Barbour but the beach where you can access the Barbour is a decent paddle from squid central. Last time I fell off the yak I couldn't get on it again so need to practice reentry before anything else. Must be nice to hit a patch of squid.

Hi Squidguy,Â
I have recently purchased a kayak and am yet to fish with it, could you recommend any areas that are beginner friendly.
I don't have any issues with the paddling of the kayak, but would be keen to find a quiet spot if you know of any.
Â
Cheers
Costa
