GEE GET DOWN THERE NOW!!
So, why didnt you run home and grab your stuff, and have a report for us on all the squid you caught??
SA - the land of the bigger fish. The fish on the east, measure the least, but if you head west, you'll be bringing in the best!!
Just went down to see if there was anything going on, I had only about 20 minutes to kill. Wasn't expecting to see anything really, Didn't think that it would start this soon. You can bet that the place will be mobbed the rest of this week and weekend.
I took a quick peek in the bucket and some of them were pretty large. I would guess about 18+ inches.
<img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> Hey Jigger, did you go down to Goat Island? I'm reading a post by ahgigi and he's claiming no squid during the weekend.
Don't listen to jigger, this guy liar, just went down to Goat Island, RI last night, stayed there for 1/2 hour, nothing show up yet, no squid, no one got it, maybe another week .
AF
I went to Goat island bridge last night.I saw no squid nor did I see any ink stains.Water still too cold.ONE MORE WEEK. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />
If this guy really were a JIGGER he would have cancelled all of his plans and been back to that bridge PRONTO!!Especially after seeing buckets full of squid(some 18")He had all night to get back there. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

thanks for the info... I almost ran out of the door with my gears but it looks like the story of people catching a couple buckets was a hoax. I was there on Sunday and my buddy and I were the only ones there. The water and air were cold and we saw no sign of squid at all. We jigged for a while and gave up. I agree that the water is still too cold. This weekend is going to warm up and that should bring them in.
No squid yet. Don't listen to this liar. At least 2 week away.
Hopefully the squids will be in by next week. May is approaching and it looks like there will be a delay for this season. Compared to last year we're about 10 degrees cooler and that means a lot. I guess the squid are temperature sensitive when it comes to laying eggs. I don't know much, but during the fall the water temps was colder than it is now and there was a good deal of squid available.

Hey Squid_Man, when is the "fall" season to catch squid in Newport? I am only aware of late April/early May "spring" season. Please advise. Thanks.
The fall season kicks off around september to november... It's good to put some long johns and layer up. The bite is good during dusk or dawn. The night bite is generally slow for the most. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

hey im from newbedford i go squidding in dartmouth off the padanaram bridge....it would be great if anyone from newport could inform me on when the squid get there... thanks good luck
its here we got a couple butnot much go try it out
HEY THERE IN... ITs the full moon that shows them to come to the bridge.. I was there from 11pm- 1 am last night... I got 11 my friend Donald started at 9 and Had a half bucket when we got there... They were pretty small at the end... Warren did ok .. But yeah there in starting last night... so Ill see you guys up there
YYYYEAH!!! The squid are in! Between my brother and I we only managed half a bucket on 3 hours. AT around 3:30 the bite was nonstop for 10 minutes! They were well over a foot (from tip to eye)during that time. The bite died and it was back to the occasional smallies... about 6-9 inches. It's gonna be awfully crowded on the weekend! Friday nights forecast is expecting thunderstorm... The bite should be interesting...
From Dartmouth to Newport, you want to drive 195 west to 77 to 138. You're better off using MapQuest and find directions to the Hyatt hotel in Newport. It's at Goat Island, and we fish on the bridge. Can't miss it!!!
