jazman my soft plastic collection has tripled. i now have over 20 packets. have people used squidgies much before? i have a fair few packets of those now as they were $2.50 each at Amart and i have the dvd oh squidgy secrets ( 1+2 ) and they seem to be pretty good. i know your more of a berkley man jazman but have you ever tried the squidgies? how did they go? if you havent been down there yet get down to Amart allsports on nepean highway. im sure they still have lots of great bargains!
Wow, that's a lot of packets! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> I haven't used squidgys before, but mike (flounderpirate) uses them a lot and loves them. And all the fishing on the squidgy DVD is using those plastics, and from what I've heard they get onto some great fish. I'll try and get down to that store when I have some time. I'm heading up to lake eildon with another kayaker on Saturday to try and get some trout, I'll be trolling lures (tassie devils and bibbed minnows), and also plan to try some sps around the snags. I'll let ya know how we go.
I'm back from broome finally, it was a magic trip, when we get sorted I'll post some pics. We didn't catch any huge fish, but we did catch a lot of different species including whiting, a few types of trevally, and lots of emporer and snapper species as well as heaps I couldn't identify. We saw (and cast lures at) some huge cobia off the jetty but they weren't hungry!

Lake Eildon was very quiet!! We trolled numerous different lures for hours and hours, and didn't get a single hit! I finally resorted to drowning a few scrubworms around the sunken trees, and was rewarded with 2 tiny redfin. Although there weren't many fish it was a very picturesque place, and there was lots of wildlife to look at.

i am not sure if your kayaks are built for rivers or not but another option might be to go down the goulburn river and find some remote spots and do some fishing....though i think the rivers are still closed to fishing at the moment <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> eildon looks very cold!!! brrrr! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Yeah my kayak can handle rivers, but the problem is that however far downstream I go, I have to paddle the same distance back upstream <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> It was damn cold at Eildon, every 30 mins or so we'd get this icy blast from the mountains, I kept telling myself 'just keep at it, you'll get a good fish soon'.... but I didn't!

hi jaz, you need two cars and you do a car shuffle so that one car is at your exit point. that way you don't travel upstream <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
i think you would have more luck with redfin in summer. they are quite keen on plastics...at least the big ones are.
thats a good idea glen! haha jazman sounds a bit like our recent school camp to eildon.. i was the only one to pull a fish in from our whole camp. it was a small redfin. there was an old greek couple there though with a bucket FULL of redfin and carp! they said they eat the carp as well as the redfin! cant wait til i get my kayak so i can give it a go!
My Lure fishing has been coming along nicely, I have now caught bream to 45cm and trout to 56cm these are two big Australian sports fish that I have been very happy to capture. My favourite SP's are currently: Damiki Monster Miki's, Damiki D Grubs in Skin Blue, 4" Turtleback Worms in Pumpkinseed, 3" Powerbait Minnows, Squidgee Wrigglers. Also loving the Hardbodies and my favourites are Zipbait Rigges, Zipbait Khasims, Ecogear sx40's, Jackall Chubbies, Atomic Hard and love the Blades like the Ecogear ZX35's and TT Blades. How are you guys going?
