Exmouth Fishing Trip 2008

Hey guys,



It has taken me a while but I finally got around to posting some photos of my Exmouth, Western Australia Trip.



The fishing was good...not quite as good as I had read in magazines but still much better than I get in Port Phillip Bay! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

that squid is the same type we get here in morton bay known as a tiger squid , take a look at the stripes on the hood and you will see why they call them tigers.

we saw a fair few schools of squid from time to time but most of the time we didn't have any squid jigs ready ...or they swam off too quick to get a cast to them!!! they would sometimes attack the flies we were using but we only caught 2 tigers (one is pictured above).

I think the unknown fish is some sort of fusilier, they are a schooling fish which hang around reefs in tropical and sub-tropical regions. I caught a few little ones off the pier in Broome last year.



And that is definately a mangrove jack, lovely fish!

Hi Jazman, I have been checking the internet for the last hour or (and i almost gave up)...but then a miracle happened!



Pentapodus emeryii (Purple threadfin-bream or Double whiptail)



This seems to be the same fish.

Yes thats a Purple Threadfin Bream, not the most common of catches, and thats a mangrove jack and that looks good on a fly.
