got out to edmonds about 8pm last night. one group of people with the generator were just packing up to leave, so we had to fish with no light. didnt see any caught at all. there were about a dozen people squidding. way more peole than i expected. fished until 930. as we were leaving a guy showed up with his generator, figures huh. high tide was at 11:35 pm so i'm sure the bite picked up. be back sometime hopefully with my generator. some guys said last week they did really good.

Quote:Squid jigging in Puget Sound has been pretty good and should only get better through the winter.
"It was pretty good last week at the Redondo Beach pier, and the guys at the Seacrest pier in West Seattle said it has picked up," said Jerry Beppu, owner of Linc's Tackle Shop in Seattle.
Other good places for squid along the Seattle downtown waterfront are Pier 86 at the Grain Terminal and the old summer concert pier near the Seattle Aquarium.

Try Pier 86 at the Grain Terminal, the Seattle Aquarium pier, Redondo Beach pier and the Seacrest pier.

Quote:Squid and smelt in Puget Sound: "Squid jigging has taken off at the Edmonds, Des Moines and Bremerton piers," said Mike Chamberlain at Ted's Sports Center in Lynnwood. "A few guys have been getting good numbers of fairly nice size smelt at Cornet Bay (on Whidbey Island)."
Other good places for squid are Pier 86 at the Grain Terminal, the Seattle Aquarium pier, Redondo Beach pier and the Seacrest pier.

Quote:Squid jigging off Puget Sound piers started off well this fall, then slowed over the past couple weeks. However, in the past several days some jiggers have reported limits (15 pounds each) of medium-sized squid at the Terminal 86 fishing pier and the docks near the aquarium on Elliott Bay.

I know that people fish off the Piers due to the lights attracting the squid, but could you catch them anywhere in the Puget Sound that has a light source? At the marina where I keep my boat moored thier is a bright light at the end of my slip. There is no breakwater blocking the free flow of current and my slip is about 80 yards off shore. So I was wondering if I could just drop a jig right there and avoid the combat squid fishing found at the Port Orchard area Piers.

Should be able to find squid there. The more lights the better, as far as it attracting squid though. If you could hang an 500W halogen light off the side of your boat, you would be set.

I fished the Redondo Pier for about an hour a few nights ago... it wasn't hot, but when the school would come near the pier, everyone was hooking up pretty well.

Quote:North Sound: There is still good blackmouth fishing in Areas 9, 8-1 and 8-2. Squid fishing is best in the Seattle area.
Tacoma: Those willing to battle chilly temperatures have found the fishing to be good for blackmouth. The fish seem spread around, at places like the clay banks, Point Dalco, the slag pile and Quartermaster Harbor. Trolling with flashers and squid or hoochies, or jigging with Point Wilson Darts has been effective. From local docks, anglers also are starting to catch some squid.
