Newport Ri 2010 Squid Season
Glow sounds interesting. Let us know how it works. Last year my son and I tried rigging cheap glow sticks to the line to see if that would attract the squid but it never seemed to do any good. Of course not much seemed to work for us last year anyway.
I thought it was interesting, the weight is different and the glow paint really glows well in dark. i will try it this weekend vs the pink and let everyone know.

Any update on how the fishing has been. I was thinking about heading down with my girlfreind this weekend. She dosnt like going unless she catches stuff so I was wondering if it was a good idea to bring her?

Yes, this will be good idea to bring her along, and use her as a squid bait!!! The squid may attract to her!!! Just kidding!!!

I was down at GI last night to pick up a boat, then stop by the bridge to squid but the wind was howling and water blow every where. No squid a lot of bait fish.

just got back from GI and it was freezing. No squid on my end, there was a guy on the bridge with two. A lot of bait fish in the water and seaweed. Going to give daytime a try tomorrow.

I'll be in the area late this afternoon and tonight. Hope the wind lets up. At least it will be warmer. Maybe a few, maybe a bunch (hopefully not skunked) but no matter what it will be good to be by the water.

as for colors pink, blue and green are my staples (yo-zuri only). i usually rig 2 or 3 rods with a different combo of colors and play with each through the course of an outing to see what seems to be the flavor of the night. as for the glow ones i have only has success with them rigged on the very bottom of my set up, but you must hold it close to your light for minute or two to 'charge' it so its glows under water...

and we trial and error are the best way to learn. pay your dues, get cold but dress warm, stay up late, pound a couple red bulls and go get 'em....

with that said i didnt even bother with the past 3 nights due to softball games and the brutal wind.

will give it a go tonight and tomorrow now that the rest of my crew can't pull the 'it's too late, i have to get up early for work and the kids the kids stuff' it's the weekend, hopefully a productive one......

cheers

Looking forward to inking the boat! I wish I was able to get in the water this weekend as I think the bite will be on! Full moon, water temp on the brink and pleasurable/warm weather forecast. Can't get in till early next week!!!! Catch'em up guys!!

I have rigged with 4 lures at once all different colors and seem to do equally well on any of them.

I am not convinced any one color is better than the other, and recommend variety, as if they are attracted to any one of them as a group you are likely to snag on the others.

Verdict: Guilty by association!

"a three hour tour.....a three hour tour"

Just got back from squiding and saw nothing, I did manage to drive by the goat island bridge and saw about 15-20 people out there but not alot of action. it is a nice night, its not too cold

just in, nothing. 1 guy on the bridge was catching one after another around midnight. only him though. weather was great, more than a three hour tour and smooth

You guys ever use orange? I have a couple small orange ones that I was killing with last year. Pink seems to be the standard for me though. I worry about the visibility of the blue and green in dark water, but some years those seem to have been the go-to colors.

Went for a few hours last night, no squid. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
