I'd watch the winds. I was going tonight, but it has been windy for two days straight and is still windy today. Saw some giant sea worms the other night though lol. They were around a foot long.

I prefer not to squid during high winds. Â It messes my sink ratio and the feel for the bite. Â Ended up skipping it and did some work on the yak. Â Anyone braved the weather? Â Any luck?

I will be there with a buddy Friday night, going all night non-stop. Will have my blob light.Â

Last year there were stripers all over and it didn't effect the catch rate really. Usually if I see those sand eel looking bait fish it is a good night

Kayaking for squid next friday I'm hoping! No crowds and I can go in the day.

Do you have a fish finder on the kayak.
Yes sir, lowrance hook 4 chirp. I welded up an aluminum telescoping transducer mount so it has dead on reads.

My squid sensors are tingling, the squids will be in tonight 2 hours before and after high tide. Â Be there tonight or come clean my ink tomorrow. >= )

I am new to this sight , I live in Huntington Long Island , I have a boat and was wondering if any one had any luck this spring yet . I was thinking about taking the boat out tonight and hanging my Hydro Glow and giving it a try . does anyone have any pointers ? i guess i would head out to the sound and start in 20 feet of water . Any body local on this sight ? If so , give me a shout , always looking for some one to go with .

Last night Goat Island. Got 12 in 3 hours. I agree tonight 2hrs before and 2hrs after tide should be good. They come in schools and disappear as fast as the arrived. Seems like everything works when the schools are there. Good Luck & Happy Squiding

Well, how did you make out OneEyedSquid??? Getting excited for tomorrow night...

The squid are not there in large numbers yet. A few good runs but not many. Yesterday in Newport from low tide until one half hour past high tide. Sea robins and skate were grabbing the jigs for several hours. They keep the squid away. Maybe it was better last night. Forty people only a few squid. The day before was good for an hour between low and high tide until a boat stayed under the bridge with the engine running for over an hour. Please shut off the motor if saucing near the bridge. Water is still cold out in front of Newport. Head boats have not been squiring yet. I think they are trying tonight.
