I hope this year is better than last, I still need to catch my first squid
looking back, i didnt think last year was too bad. an avg year i'd say. for the guy looking for SST, here are a some of the marine weather sites i use for all my fishing both inshore and offshore, and boating. i dont soley rely on any one. i use them all and use my best judgement. i hope theyre useful to ya'll for your various fishing/boating activities this season http://www.buoyweather.com/index2.jsp http://www.maineharbors.com/weather/marzone.htm http://magicseaweed.com/ http://www.surfline.com/home/index.cfm http://www.sailwx.info/index.html http://biteweather.com/ http://www.gomoos.org/data/recent.html https://www.sailflow.com/ http://www.intellicast.com/National/Rada...imate=true http://www.windfinder.com/ http://www.fishweather.com/ http://www.mysound.uconn.edu/apmet_all.html

I took the Jenny Lee by GI Bridge on Sunday and it was very slow. No moorings, no one even fishing. But the construction is clear and the bridge looked good go to. I am just proud that I remembered to put all my antennas down betore going under the bridge.
I saw a guy forget last year or so and all you heard was CRACK,,,,CRACK,,,,CARACK,,, oh #%^#%. It wasn't pretty. - ATG

Hello all How was everyone's winter? I've spent way to much $$$ already on fishing gear over the winter, it is time to wet my lines. I gave it a shot today for 2hrs..zero squid and no ink on the ground <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ..Maybe another 2 weeks

Way too cold. They love 58 degree water. May be a little late this year...hope it's a good run. Water temps now only 45s. I think at least a couple more weeks before first ink. We will see. Hope to see all my old friends and at least get a few good meals of squid salad and squid in tomatoe sauce over linguine. YUMMMM. Red Sox seem to suck this year. Jim & Lynne. Real estate wise. If you are looking to buy or sell... please give me a call at 401.225.7000 www.jimandlynne.net or kacewicz@cox.net. We would love to sell a house to someone who smells like SQUID!!!

The amount of bait last spring was astounding, yet I wasn't able to cover the bottom of my bucket on any of my trips, including boat trips.
I don't know what the deal is, I used to catch squid by accident on swimming plugs meant for schoolies, when did squid fishing get so difficult?

It's possible that because there was such and abundance of natural food for them that they were full.
Mid May last spring was around the time we really killed em...into June. Imo, don't just stick to one or two spots. Explore the surrounding waters. When you find an area that doesn't look busy or fishy, fish it. Always have smaller jigs stocked. Little jigs have saved many nights of skunkings. Most importantly, gotta put the time in. I know its easy to say but tough to swallow with these ridic gas prices. I'm about 15 min from soco. But still, it adds up... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The Providence to Newport trip has always been strictly a "when I have time" thing, and never a "the tide is going to be perfect at x:00" type thing. Stupid squid and their tasty hides <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

With gas @ $4.50/gallon for premium in CT, I won't be making a lot of trips this year.

I probably wont make as many fishing trips this year because of it. Most likely plan entire day/night trips instead to maximize outings. Also, good thing I didnt decide to buy a boat this year. I woulnt be able to afford the gas. |
