Ill be down later.
Slowwww night 4 squid
Went out tonight and didn't have many to show for it. Went from 10 to 2 and got 10 squids. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

I guess they're wary due to the moon close to full. I can't see this week being productive due to the moon cycle.

We get half crescent next week <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Next new moon phase is probably near the end of the spring season <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

We will see...
2 buckets.. varies sizes of tubes.. mainly large. They bit well at sunrise today. Just off the beach.

I've heard rumors they could be on the Sakonnet near 3rd beach. Are you using boat and if so where are you launching off? There is hope afterall... Big Grin
I was in GI this weekend and pulled about 120+ squid - Various sizes and landed this 33" Striper

Internet has been down all weekend for me. Here is my report from this weekend.

Friday night fished from 9pm-5am at Ft Adams. a sad 20 squids for that many hours I put in. They were really picky, was only going after the jigs as they float down with no bottom sinker. My buddy snagged about half of the squid we caught. The squids were more interested in the bait fish under our lights than our jigs. Did see a school of pogeys swim back and forward around the docks. Some schoolies was going after them.

Sunday night 7pm-9pm 2 squids..I was trying to stay out there a little longer but the rain came pouring down.

Also parker rangers at Ft. Adams will make everyone shut off their generators after 9:30pm. If they don't they will be asked to leave. I asked the ranger if I could stay there and fish since I only had a lantern. He said it was okay, they just have a problem with the noise from the generators. So all you generator users out there, take note of that.
Quote:In Newport squid fishing has been inconsistent, said Toland. “We had some good nights and some terrible nights,” he said.

I went Thursday night and Friday night.... skunked.

Saturday was awesome until I caught the striper and I think that scared away the squid because I was double hooking for a bit.

Sunday was hit and miss day with Jamestown = skunked, did get a huge bite but didn't hook up with the Fish, then off to GI and wasn't hooking on the 3 1/2 but did do well with the 2" -

Has anyone been over to Fort Wetheril or Fort Getty this season?
Fort Wetheril is slow, went to the state peir and nearly filled two buckets last saturday. They are really interested in the white jigs this year for some reason, god damn i love a good night of squidding.

Squiding is not an actitivy, its a way of life

Fort wetheril was ok two weeeks ago. This past weekend two full nights very little to show for 16 hrs of fishing. Will give a rest untill full moon or weather/ temp. change.
does it really matter if it rains or not??
Only one way to find out is to get out there. I'm going tomorrow night.
