Good luck trying to net them. They are extremely fast and skiddish. On night about ten years ago, thousands were in one large school circling around under the GI bridge. They wouldn't take any jigs. People even tried snagging them but they were still too fast. That lasted for about two hours. Then they disappeared.
Also in the fall time you have to go smaller because those squids are smaller and hesitant to attack larger jigs. Squid in the spring come from offshore to spawn in the warm shallows so their offsprings have lots to eat. Those offsprings then grow over the summer and migrate offshore in the fall/winter. So the cycle of squid life...

Last year I went to Fort Wetherill and for the most part, they took all sizes and styles. But in particular, I noticed a group of Vietnamese using the small Martineti jigs from Coleman. They seemed to be catching far more than everyone else and pink was the dominant color.

I gone last week to Fort Adams and I use the Martineti jigs I caught two squids but last year I just started to use them and I caught a full cooler within 2 hours myself alone
Thats the first time I've heard anyone say they net them in bulk. I'm assuming you are using a cast net? Any specific techniques other than throw and retrieve?
I've always wanted to try, but never saw them balled up close enough.

Sure a castnet would work... I've caught a bunch on a blind cast before off the Hyatt side of the causeway back in the days. That bunch was "epic". It was in the middle of June... No one squidding, only a few. I thought I seen squid and gave it a go... 100lbs of squid on 1 cast... a cooler filler!!! My friend had to help me lift it over the causeway. But I usually do it from boat and the only problem is that the cast net would get "gooey" with ink. But if the squids are on a good float you can use a landing net and it won't even scare them. They're like deers in a headlight.

Can't snag them eh? I've snagged a bunch of them. You gotta have the right rig set up. Try 2 inline trebles with a cheap orange sinking squid jig underneath for measurement. I've snagged many in my hey day off the causeway. The only issue with that is the ink sack gets busted and removing squid from trebles are tough as they would grab your fingers and bite you. They're so vicious! Jeez EJ... you sound like a noob!

Not a noob. I consider myself a sportsman. I enjoy the experience as well as the catch. When I mentioned people were attempting to "snag" squid, they were using their squid jigs. Of course with the proper equipment one could snag them, but what's the sport in that? It's like going to one of those game preserves that allows you to hunt in a fenced in area. But I guess if my intention was to go out and empty a cooler full of beer while refilling it to the brim with my catch then snagging might be a more proficient way to "fish". Hell why not just toss in a stick of dynamite and fill it up quicker. No need to remove those nasty treble hooks either.

Sport? These are squid. While I can sympathize with your outlook, I simply don't hold it. I do enjoy the simple dumb pleasure of jigging for them, but if I see a school I'd net them in a heartbeat.
