74 more days?? Where are you going to fish for them, in an aquarium? They usually don't show on the east coast until late May-early June.

Wife and I have the itch pretty bad.  We have spent the last month watching fishing videos while waiting for winter to end its grip.  Our plan it to keep an ear open for Hyannis and Newport/Jamestown this year.  We are in the middle of buying a boat and hope its ready before April.  Greenport would be more than a bit ambitious for our boat from Point Judith this early in the season though.

Here is a link for an interesting video given by a rep from Yamashita. Lots of nuggets of information even if this style isn't common here in the northeast.

Certainly could use a break from this northeast weather but we are knee deep in work and getting ready for the new boat.  My wife used to catch Octopus growing up in Korea as she grew up on the water.  Her ears perked up when I told her what you are catching.  Glad you guys are enjoying your trip.

I hope they come in big numbers this year. last season they came late and in very small numbers and size. My higher number was 48 and the year before a 5-gallon bucket  2 times. I wish i can go octopus fishing.I grow up in Greece and just 2 miles from the water. this is the best time for octopus fishing.

Too bad squid in spring does not travel to Huntington Area, most likely will be further north east area.

Have anyone squid fishing in the spring in the Huntington Area?

North shore as New York?  Or Massachusetts?

The original post was in reference to Greenport on Long Island.  I too was a bit confused and initially thought of Beverly MA.   What is north or south kind of depends on where you are.

We never squidded there but as a kid Martin was there almost every week fishing. And it was fantastic. But that was 50 years ago.
