Around the corner at Yarra Bay can be productive.

Otherwise, if Port Hacking isn't too far for you, there's several spots that do well.

That's where a mate & myself had success.

To the right of that concrete wall thingy.

Sorry it didn't work out.

High tide is at 6'ish tonite, if memory serves. Try getting there maybe 1.5 hours prior.

Also, high tide will run around 1.6 meters, if possible try on the rocks to the right on that concrete wall if there not covered.

There is a couple of large ones that are good to fish off, but just watch the tide height.

anyone know where can I go to? also I dont have my own car so a place i can get to by public transport would be nice.

Baits on squid spikes are great for attracting squid but do not have as good a hook up rate. One guy just ties the bait fish under a float and when a squid comes he hooks it with a jig so i reckon if there there and biting don't bother but if there off the bite or not there maybe use a bait

Prutkul,

Check the list here & see whats easier for you.

http://www.squidfish.net/squidspots.shtml

Unfortunately, your going to be limited due to public transport,

unless you can find a squidding partner out your way.

Inkley,

Baited squid hooks will work, but I think, as do others, that jigging is more productive.

And I think it's more fun.

Squidguy,

Sorry to hear that.

There a few people who walk further around towards to container docks,

but it can be risky if you slip off those concrete star things.

If you try that spot again in the evening, you could try submerging a dolphin torch or similar

to try and attract them.

Also, get some more jig colors, not just the body color but also look at the tape/foil colors underneath.

Silver, gold & even transparent (etc) have their uses depending on the conditions.

ok my squiding update from last night, my friend and I went to rose bay. saw a few ink patches on ferry jetty, but didn't catch anything.

After 2 hours and 2 jigs[Image: crying.gif] later we decided to go home to watch TV (under belly final, which I was really disappointed) anyway we might try to go again tonight.

I'll keep you guys posted about my fishing session, hope you won't sick of my catching nothing story too fast [Image: rolleyes.gif].

so my plan for today I'll be going to botany bay around la perouse and maybe moving around from spot to spot a little bit.

Don't really know what to expect from it, but as long as I get to cast and my lure is in the water I'm happy( few squid would be great tho [Image: laugh.gif]).

hope you guys have a better luck catching them than me.

cheers

Squidguy,

Any luck?

My friend went out to Yarra Bay on either Monday or Tuesday around lunch time and finished up with 4 calamari around the 20cm size range.
