Puget Sound, WA (2012 Season)

So, what you guys saying is that if I got my limit from 8pm until 11pm, I can't come the next day at 5pm because my 24 hour start at 8pm? Well, then wdfw can easily give tickets to almost everyone.

You are absolutly correct. My family members work for the WDFW. I will say that I have personally notified the WDFW due to people doing what you have stated above, this year. I have also heard the rumor that some are selling their squid. They are aware of this forum and watch it closely for violations, and tips. Im too tired of watching people that call themselves sportsman overfishing, and taking advantage of our resources.

A good way to sum this up; Want to have another 10+ years of squidding like it has been? Small squid, little none around.. 2 pounds on a good night... Than keep over fishing people. They have limits in place for a reason, please respect them or your children may not be able to do this someday. This has been a special season and everyone trying to double dip is pretty gross.
agreed Wasquid, I have WDFW/911 on speed dial for poaching violations! It hurts to see double dipping on a season like this, it hurts! i mean sure if you go over by 1 OUNCE it wont hurt! you can never it 10 pounds even if you got BIG jumbos ! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':oops' />

I was thinking about the same thing, but decided not to tell anything <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />
I saw some guys taking the buckets filled with squid to their cars, and coming back with empty buckets. I hate cheaters...
I just called WDFW and they told me that it is legal to take another limit after 12. Go figure. I wrote down officer's name who told me that. He told me that that is how he would interpret "Daily limit," and that is how every prudent person would. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Yeah, but I think you still have to take home the limit from the "previous" day and come back, since the "possesion limit" is only one. You can not possess more than 10 lbs. of fresh squid at any given time.

Winner.

If you find a way to have your 10lbs processed and frozen in time to get out for a second limit in the same night, let me know how.

Call 911 next time. Lets get these poachers off the docks
where would be the best place to go squid fishing in or around bremerton. Couple of my buddies and I have been out to port of illahe and have some to little luck, but have been told that need smaller jigs.

Got it. You need to have a portable car freezer that runs on 12 volt, which I happen to have. The way I froze my squids is simply take out the guts and cut the tentacles off. Put in the bag and you are good to go. It takes me about 40 minutes to process 10lb. Take three gallons of clean water and big bowl with you to wash them a little bit. Anymore questions?
Bring your smoker out onto the pier with you and just hang the squid in the smoker as you catch them, lol

the are considered fresh until frozen. Im honestly trying to help you avoid a ticket and I feel like you are trying to argue your point. I really dont care for going back and forth. I called the WDFW, they told me what you are doing is illegal and I notified them of the game violations taking place. Play at your own risk and be safe
Just spoke with Mill Creek again. It is WITHOUT A QUESTION ILLEGAL to take home more than one limit in a 24 HOUR period. Once again, gave her the piers that I have been fishing at and the locations of people that have been committing offenses. Sgt. Erik Olson WDFW Police has been notified, as well.
man I could say lot of things of that name you just said! He could bust you for speeding on the freeway! and boating violations will under their name it's WDFW not local law enforecment! When you fish for squid it's play at your own risk!

Report: got 1 pound from 4-9pm! Early there was 8 foot waves and 30 knot winds. Then got some lightning! sucky night!

For pier 70 we can fish it ANYTIME from 12am to sunrise or later if fishing for day squid! talked to the managment! from 4-12am pier is CLOSED! Also 24 hours equals 1 day. Hint hint "DAILY LIMIT"

What I noticed is that those who work for WDFW are lazy people and they won't give tickets unless they can drive to the pier and walk 5 steps. I was fishing at pier 69 the other night and the WDFW police drove to us with a truck and check our licences and limits. There were two of us only. Pier 70 from the right was packed with people, but they had to walk there - and that is something they don't like to do. Those two police are getting good pay, with taxpayers money, and can't even do their job properly. I don't give any credits for increased # of squids in our waters to WDFW and to 10lb limit policy, but instead to a good ocean condition (Same thing can be said about Coho salmon this year, even though WDFW decreased funds to hatcheries and even closed some, Coho return was better then previous years). Recreational fishermen simply can't do any harm from the piers, nor with one or two poles; they can't even catch one or two percent of those squids. Do you really thing that 2-3 thousand squid fishermen can do harm? 70-80% of those fishermen won't even catch a daily limit ones for the season. This is a money eating machine that need to be cut in half at least because if it won't be cut in half, we would need licences to stay on the piers pretty soon.
Correction: Not all people at WDFW lazy, but majority are. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wh' />
Hey anyone in Tacoma:

Can you fish off the pier off the Silver Cloud Inn? It looks good.
