Finally had some good squid action in Edgartown last night. Raining like crazy but I got close to thirty in a half hour, only left because I didn't have foul weather gear with me. Maybe it will now get progressively better for the rest of the fall season.

Was only good for a few nights, last two nights were dismal although a few people got enough to fish the AM albie bite. Tried Menemsha last couple of nights, was only there for lower part of the tide and the squid action was minimal. I don't see much activity around the Newport or north shore threads, anybody found squid in good numbers yet?

I heard there were some squid caught in Edgartown last couple of nights. They worked for them but a couple of guys got 40 some nice albie bait sizes. I should be there in a couple of days to check action in Menemsha and Edgartown in person.

It's been a slow pick last few days in Edgartown. My friend and I got 30 this evening but it took us an hour and a half. That's one squid each every six minutes, or what I call work. Previous night was worse for us but we missed some action as a few friends got fifty but there were four of them and it took them close to two hours. At least we are getting enough to go to the beach for a few hours of bass/blue fishing. Hopefully they will be in thick soon and in a few nights we can fill the freezer with bait and provide some meals for our friends who like bait/calamari. Have not found any in Menemsha yet but the westerly breezes have mats of grass floating all over the harbor making it tough squidding.

Got a call this AM, a couple friends went to where we got our thirty after we left and they got 50 in an hour between two of them. There are some around.

Squid still erratic here in Edgartown, haven't seen a one in Menemsha and I have tried every night since the 25th Sept with the exception of last night.  Still no massive fall run on here. Everybody here is hoping the big nor'easter on us will bring in the squid.

Finally!! Big squid action all over town. Plenty of daytime squid caught in the channel, by night in a few places. Hot rods got close to 60-70 per hour for a couple of hours. Odd though that they have been less in Menemsha although there seem to be fewer squid hunters out in Menemsha to spread word when the bite is on. Not a lot of ink on the docks either. Bite definitely on in Edgartown tonight and last night.

Another hot action night (or early morning) in E-town yesterday. My buddy went down to the docks at 4AM and a concher who was loading gear on his boat told him a huge school was behind his boat. The kind of squidding where you see them almost fight each other for the chance to get that jig. Every cast and at least ten grabbing at the jig, aggressive squid! School only on one side of the dock though, not all over town. He was using a small Yamashita Naory 1.5B which has a slow sink rate but they were all over the top of the water. They got daytime squid in the channel again too.

Just got another reliable report from my buddy. Massive squid attack again early this morning, 60 per hour cast and jig. 5-10 feet of water. He sent Tomo  a video maybe it'll get posted here. He had 123 for two hours work, and let a bunch go that were too big for surf casting baits (his wife also prefers smaller ones to eat) so it was more like 70 per hour total. So bigger ones are in now, and it seems the fall migration is on. Daytime guys got more too but casting way out to the channel and bounce and retrieve takes longer so the squid per hour total is lower. Great squidding, the best in a year or two in Edgartown. I hope the guys in RI and the Cape are getting good action but I haven't heard much from those areas.

One of my surf fishing friends says he caught squid last night from the docks in Edgartown. Another friend going tonight to see if they are thick yet. Will report back when I hear from him tomorrow.

Squids in in Edgartown, harbormaster says a lot of ink on some docks and he has gotten them at night and early AM. Another friend got a full bucket yesterday daytime, and he has been scoring well at 6 AM while it is light. Squids a little big for surf casting but they are there.
