Puget sound, WA (2013 season)
went to Edmonds last night for a couple hours all jumbo squid got about 3 lbs  other people did much better then me but you know those asains they can catch squid no matter what lol

Nice, i can hold my own with the Asians, haha. They got nothing on me!
It has nothing to do with asians.

It's the jig Tongue

Only reasons Asians are the standard is because there are rarely any other ethnicities out there fishing for squid lol, just like how whites are the standard in hunting Tongue though I think the jig is half of it, having the right jig doesn't mean much if you don't know how to "feel" the weight of your line/jig when a squid grabs onto it.
I don't know if it has much to do with the jig. I make my own and catch plenty of squid. I think it has more to do with figuring out where in the water column they're at, and then technique. I am usually not quick enough to set the hook when I feel them hit, but I still catch a bunch.
I was at les Davis last night from 7 to 11. It was not good, I only caught one squid and saw 1 other caught.
Very slow in Seattle last night
Decent at dash point in the evening, lots walked away with roughly 3-5 pounds.
Stopped by les Davis today not much happening. Seems like the squid haven't made it down to tacoma yet.
Went to les Davis again tonight from 6 to 10 and caught nothing. I know high tides are usually better, but ya gotta go fishing when you can go even though it was in the middle of a really low tide.
Tide isn't THAT important. Was anyone else there catching any? The squid might not have made it that far south yet
No one else had more than 2 squid in their bucket. Are they getting them right now anywhere else? When do they usually make it down to tacoma?
December.

They just made it to Seattle a few weeks ago.

I'd be up at edmonds every Friday, but my wife just gave birth to our second kid. No squidding for me for a while, lol
I was planning to come up from Portland and wanted some advice from the Puget Sound squidding community. Would you recommend evening high tides as the best time assuming they are around? When would you expect the peak of the season to occur and where in the sound would peak numbers of squid be located? What about the period around the full moon? Would the full moon disperse the schools or do you find the catches improve?

Also, I was looking to reach Yoda of Yoda's jigs. I have an email but I am not sure it is still good. Can anyone put me in touch with him?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Anyone been squidding in this blistering cold?
I went to Seattle last night. Got 5 pounds BUT temperature was 22 degrees F (warmest spot in the west side) with a wind chill of 16F.
Friday night 5:30pm to 12am @Edmonds in the cold sucked. Managed to get 4..Everyone else had about the same or less and left early.

Hi Puget Sound squidders. I hope you can help me out. I am looking to make the 3 hour drive from Portland but I would like to time my trip to the peak of the squid run. Any prediction on when the peak is likely to occur and where the masses of spawning squid will likely be concentrated at that time? My limited understanding is that there is a general north to south migration as the season progresses. Do people in general find more squid in the Seattle area during the run regardless of timing? What piers offer the best lighting and/or tend to have more squidders using high intensity flood lights? How much of an adverse affect would the full moon have and do folks blame it on the light or the tidal current? Thanks in advance for your help.

a few guys have been getting them off pt. defiance in boats during the day.

Hello,

Is anyone having any luck in downtown Seattle?  I hope to head out tonight and try my luck...

Thank you,
