really small jigs

Hi all,



My supplies of really small jigs are running low and i was wondering if anyone out there knows a good brand or shop to visit.



When i say small i mean 6cm long or less.

2.5 size jigs are available in the kokoda brand ( owned by Syeve starlig)

They come in all colours and sizes and work as good as any jig I have tried

Also yashamita make squid jigs in that size as well.

I find jigs of this size are always sold out, I also find a smaller jig better when the squid are shy on the bite or not feeding well.

I have done well with pink and green 2.5 size jigs in just about any brand

Hi Glen, check out these mini jig's, I don't know how much they cost but their on sale due to closing down, you might get a good deal? if you do, buy heap's and offer them to the member's and add a little !! might help pay for some of your cost's on this board, check the link, regards Peter d.

Hi Peter,



I have visited the store you mentioned. Very nice people there. I bought some good japanese jigs from there recently. And they work quite well! 25% off from memory due to the sale.



One of the smallest jigs i own came from horizone. However, this jig is wooden and it just doesn't seem to catch squid.



I am hoping to eventually get some sort of site sponsorship to cover my expenses for running the site. Perhaps a tackle shop or jig distributor.

Hi Glen. I had an idea you might already have heard of these jig's, but I thought I'd mention them in case you didn't, most avid squider's alway's keep an eye out for that ultimate secret jig, the one that alway's producer's when other jig's don't, I recently tried one from W.A. it split's apart and you stuff it with pilchard's, didn't get a touch on it, yet my baited jig's with silver whiting got plastered, maybe I was using it wrongly? I'll try it again next time and experiment with different movement's, the trouble is when testing jig's is if MR squid turn's up, you concentrate with the one that's working to catch as many possible before they disappear again ! as you know one minite their there and next their gone, not much time to pussy foot around with experimenting, get the your bag first then play around with them, cheer's Peter d. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />

Hey Guys!

Dont know if anyone else on here has seen them, but last week i was down at Ray and Annes (A big tackle store in Adelaide) looking to top up on some tackle, and came across some squid jags. These jags would be no longer than my finger - they are tiny, but the attendant assured me that if the conditions are right for their use they will outfish a normal sized jag - can only wait and see......has anyone else seen or used these tiny jags??

Tiny jigs means tiny prongs, the bigger the better for me. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Do you know what brand the jigs are?

I use Yamashita size 2.0s and 1.8s, these are finger-length, and I don't reckon there is a squid out there too small to take them. I have caught squid smaller than the jig (ie less than 2 inches hood) on these jigs. Have to admit, squid are pretty game to take on prey bigger than themselves! :blink:



I also bought an even smaller jig (about an inch long) a while back, not sure what brand, and despite much use it still hasn't caught anything. It doesn't look to have the quality of the yamashitas, although they are more expensive than some other brands ($12 or so) I think the extra expense is justified in the extra squid you pull (until you get snagged that is!) <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Not too sure of the brand - im at uni now, but ill check when i get home..........

Yamashita - sounds familiar, but as i said im not sure.............

Hopefully going to chase some squid on Sunday so ill try them out and see what happens.............
