Hi i am new to squiding!



Where can i catch squid close to Perth? Maybe is there a good jetty or some good boating areas i can try.

I have a five metre tinnie.



Also some info on the best baits would be good.

I fished a lot around perth when i was a kid. Though never for squid.

I am sure there must be some around there. Just try any reefy area and u should get on to them!

Try pink yo-zuri jigs in size 2-3. they are the best and <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' /> made in japan!

Hi Guys



I have found out over the last few weeks that i have caught big squid at MINDARIE MARINA on 3.5 and 4.0 pink squid jigs and are in big numbers. I find that they like weedy places in minamal swell and are close to the rocks and jetties. i have been going down around 6.30pm to about 8.30pm on warmish weather.



This is an ideal place to go beacuse you have planty of light to see what your doing and you are close to the shops which includes a nice little tackel shop that dosent charge a fortune.



And finaly a good TIP that all can use <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



If there are loud anoying anglers that set up next to you, get on to a squid and bring it up right infront them and let the squid spray them with ink. (i do this to my friend every time) hopefully they will move off lol. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

I have been told around Rockingham is good on the Jetties around the lights

but you have to get there early to find a spot



I have found the orange jig with the blue bottom to be very successful

Hey guys ive been fishing for a long time now and have only just started to do a little bit of squiding



I was wondering if you guys could share some good tips such as : how to find good places to try , rigs , best times to go , methods of catching them and whats the best gear you should use.

Hey people these windy sea breezes over here in Perth are really making life tough at the moment for squiding and ripping tides are not much help.I have had a brilliant 9 months of egging off the stones so i cant really complain.

Might start heading down to busselton and do an evening,early morning fish soon.

Roll on Summer.

Local Rock groins south of perth. Fremantle way. and also marinas to the North.

Squid captures were frightening.had to hold back at 15 per session.

Thing is Glen using state of the art eggi rods improves your technique by 50%

the pure feel and finesse is amazing. and fish different jigs in different ways.taking many factors into consideration.

well mate i am a boy of 13yr's and i go to hillary's aqua jetty and i catch ###### loads but there not verry big....

also u can try around the blue light were the boat owner's go through the gate! (have caught some big ones round there 40cm+)

anothere good spot is lancelin if u dont mind the drive because there's a jetty were the cray boats off load and it is surrounded by weed bed's. also the crayboats scare them under the jetty. soo good luck! see u round maybe!

After a long break from fishing (got into spearfishing over the last 8yrs), I've caught the bug again.



I wanted to target some squid off our boat, but have no idea where to start.

Can any of you help me with where I should try? (launching from woodmans point)

There is a stack of weed just out from the ramps there, should I just try over them? What sort of depths would you recommend?



More than happy to have you come on board and show us how it's done :-)

Hi Drew, no-one close to you has answered yet so I will.



I am a bit south of you in Bunbury so can't be too specific for you but I know the Sound is crawling with calamari at the moment, in fact it is already cut & crumbed. Just add some heat. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />



I reckon if there is good weedbeds out from the ramp then try there. I have most success in 4 - 6m of water. Just drift around over the weed & keep casting - sinking and retrieving before you get snagged and you should do well.



I have never had the oportunity to fish the sound yet, I mostly do Bunbury & Busselton with varying success. There is always some in my freezer though. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
