thanks for the report supersquid. i haven't been out for a while so it looks like i better get off my butt and start catching some squid! I wouldn't mind catching a cuttlefish too. never got one yet.
cheers, glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':oops' />
Had a fish at Flinders last week for a poor result of only one squid. Did better on other two occasions (April). Unfortunately a top squid fisherman has moved into the area and is pretty much cleaning up. This guy is an animal, forget about taking squid home they are going straight down his gob! If any of guys run into him tell him to piss off.
Ps. His name is Sammy

Have you known a seal by any other name? Must get awfully confusing within their groups.

yes its bloody cold and windy
problem is squid tend to go into a feeding frenzy in this type of weather at times
with spawing season starting my guess would be anyone brave enough to venture out will probably bag out
Im not that game anymore must be old age lol

A report......., a little late as usual. Headed down to Flinders about two weeks ago. Arriving at 1pm the jetty was completely packed - 33 individuals fishing for squid! Your guess as to the amount of floats bopping up and down! Many had been there from very early for very little squid. From 1 pm to 6pm I saw only one squid caught. To my suprise after 6 the pier started to clear out and I actually managed a decent spot off the end. Not for long however as two newcomers came on either side and basically started throwing their floats over mine. What to you do?
By the time I had started to pack up at 11 pm I had only two small squid (1kg and .5kg) but I had done allot better than most. As I thinking of bringing the last float in the float next to it went down and the guy brought in probably the largest squid I have ever seen 4.5kg??)
Damn it should've been me!
