I bet there arnt many people who havent copped a squirt in the face from a squid

I remember once in my dads boat, the whole family was out fishing including my sister who was wearing a white jumper. Suddenly the old man hooked up one hell of a big squid and dragged him in toward the boat ,it was pretty big and dad rested it on the top of the transom where it let go what seemed to be gallons of ink

The inside of the boat changed from light blue to black in seconds and my sister who was sitting on the cabin copped it big time and her nice white jumper now resembled a Collingwood footy jumper. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

But it was dad who copped the most of it and had to strip off and change

We had to get buckets full of water to wash down the boat and took a while to get clean

I was at Cape Jervis jetty good friday night, and a dude caught a squid and went to show his mate as he dropped it on the jetty, and it covered his mate in ink!!

Once I got a pretty decent sized squid and just as I was swinging it onto the wharf it struck. The disgustingess of the sound it made was only topped by how revolting it looked. You see, I wasnt lucky enough to get simply runny ink on me. The crap that squid spray was a semi gel-like substance and one large blob dangled down from my shoulder, and then just hung there. Everyone on the wharf was laughing at me including my mates and I waited for the blob to dribble down, but it didnt. It just stretched about the length of an arm dangling down, like it was defying gravity!



After that I learned my lesson and devised a method minimising the chances of being owned by ink. The trick is to time it properly. As soon as the squid just squirted, lift it up asap before it draws more water into its tube. It has so much ink not because it stores all of it in one go but because it has this "ink concentrate" which when mixed with water produces new ink in seconds. :blink:

my gf's cuzins and i went squiding at san remo jetty her cuzin had a decent sized one of his pole couldn;t lift it on the jetty so he beached it i went to grab it and see it lined up for a shot into my face so i back off and tell her other cuzin to get it he coped a nice shot in his hair/face ahaha

Ive only copped ink once - and it was all clear ink for some reason - sticky as all hell, but clear - however i always end up with it in my finger nails after cleaning the buggers. My dad got done one day - he caught one and as he swung it onto the jetty he landed it straight in our empty bucket - on accident- and it squirted ink everywhere - on him, on the jetty, on our rods, on our tackle box - it was everywhere!!!

I've lost count of the amount of times i've been hit with ink in the face. Fishing with idiot mates who don't know what they are doing in tinnys. Because in a tinny you're always so close to the water and somehow the squid always ends up pointed up at my face and i get done <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I've only done it to myself once when i was spearfishing. Was not thinking and i had the squid pointed at me about 6 inches away from my face <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> was absolutely hilarious!
