Female squid fishers
#1
Hi everyone,

This is a follow on from an earlier post. Where squidgirl was warmly welcomed to the board.

There seems to be very few woman interested in fishing (let alone catching squid).

This raises a few important issues.

1) How can we help woman to enjoy squid fishing?

2) Would squid fishing with woman be more fun?

3) Is a woman who likes squid fishing the ultimate woman?

3) Or is fishing so much fun because there are generally no woman around?

Many issues that i throw to you for consideration. This chat board is indeed becoming a multi-facted and philosphical examination of humanity. (OK maybe i should just stick to giving fishing reports right? lol)

Hiya Everyone! Big Grin

Firstly thankyou for the warm welcome, and secondly i know alot of women who love fishing and squid fishing.

Even this weekend im going away with 2 other ladies who love fishing just as much as i do. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

Ive also got some answers for your questions too..lol

1- You would get plenty more women out there if you offered to take the fish off the hook and to gut them..lol

2-You would get more women to squid fishif they knew with just a jag you didnt have to bait them either, and that would leave you with more time to fish rather than having to spend most of your time organizing her rod..lol. ( this advice is from my man ..lol )

3- Ofcourse we are the ultimate women!!! Who else would get excitited at seeing her man come home covered in ink and think of the squid first and not the washing..lol

4-I cant comment on the last one because were always out there every chance we get Big Grin

I take my wife fishing whenever she has time and when it comes to squid fishing one thing is for sure,... she keeps me on my toes. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

If nothing is happening she's asking me for a different colour jig, asking me for a baited jig, etc etc etc.

Sometimes i get into a rut when nothing much is happening and forget about changing tactics, so from that perspective its good to have someone on my back <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Forgive me for answering none of the 4 questions <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

Maybe it is just me and that I have been mixing up with the wrong women. But long cold fishing trips with the girlfreinds always seem to end in disaster. Only If the trip involved a significant amount of non fishing activity like visiting a winery and antique shops and even then I can only count on getting 2 hours max of non nag fishing time. Now I think it is allot better to go out by myself inorder to maintain a healthy relationship!

I have had a similar problem snapperman! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

They say they want to go fishing for the first couple of trips Big Grin and after that ...well its better off i go on my own. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

They get bored quick or complain about it being too cold <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> , or too hot <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> , or too smelly <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> . But of course i am talking about woman who were not brought up with fishing <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />:

But i take squidgirl's point. The good thing about squid jigging is there is no bait to handle and the ladies like this. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

And i agree with aok47's point about changing tactics. Usually i tend to fish longer in one spot than i should. so it is good to have someone saying "come on lets go we are not catching anything"

Hi all, im new here.

I have similar problems finding women who are interested in fishing, and then training them up so they become proficient. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> Most of my attempts have ended in disaster because the end up getting bored and then start whinging about how cold/hungry/bored they are. When you find a girl who actually enjoys spending time in the tinny, and who can bait a hook, who can catch a fish, and clean it herself, then that my friends is a keeper... Big Grin

I know this thread is a little old but couldnt help but put my two cents worth in.

my delemer is that I love fishing and squid fishing. The trouble I have is to get the dh interested. It doesnt worry me having to bait gut clean skin cook and then eat them. I would be out every day weather being good, if only I could find someone as willing as me. dh well he is the captain of the vessel. And if I could back the darn trailer I would go on my own. But that is just one thing I ant mastered yet. LOL. Jan

Hi Jan,

Took me a while to figure out that dh = dear husband!

Talking about role reversal! This is a nice twist for this thread.

So obviously hubby likes boats. But doesn't like fishing? Maybe you could do some trolling and he could do some water skiing at the same time? lol <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wh' />

Dear fellow squid fishers - women and men alike!

My woman friend and I just did our first sq. jigging on Thursday night Nov.13th. I

am a woman as well. My friend and I BOTH LOVE TO FISH !!! I had not done ANY fishing in over 3 years as I had no one to go out with. Now I have this great friend and we plan to keep up "squidding" as we call it and fish for other catches as different season's come and go. J (as I will call my friend) knows how to catch Salmon. I have not done that yet but she promises to take me and show me how.

Is anyone else in the Pacific Northwest as we are? I would love to hear form anyone and look forward to getting to make new friends here and have a great time. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Thank you all. Any and all advice WELCOMED & NEEDED !!!

Take care everyone.

SquidlyWoman.
I hope you catch your limit every time you're out.

"God loves you and will keep you safe in HIS loving hands".

Sincerely, SquidlyWoman.

I think I have a problem... yup. I can't get enough of squidding and fishing and my huney sends me out to fish so because i keep bugging her and talking about fishing and asking her when we're going fishing next... then I go fishing with my brother, which mean, a baited rod on the pier for fish and jigging up and down the pier for squid and when I get home after 5 hours of fishing and squidding I tell her all about my trip and ask her when we are going fishing again. Recently she told me that I had become a mad fisher-woman because I got up at 3:30 in the morning to squid and fish. We went on a fishing trip recently where she landed a few aus salmon and I saw that fire in her eyes - then she asked me when we were going fishing next and she was fishing in the rain the next morning. Gotta love a fisher woman!
