Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC
well exactly mate, the japanese sure do give the line a workout, but I guess thats why having 7kg line helps out. Even if you are really putting it through its paces and jigging the crap out of the jig, you still have 15lb braided mainline to break. Its not easy! Im gonna go to my local spot tonight for a bit, crappy tides but will see how it goes on dark!

Got a crap load of my dotted gizzard shad yamashitas in today <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

How did you go?

bupkis this morning, no baitfish, no squid, no gar nothing except Phosphorescence in the water.

First time i've ever seen it in melbourne. used to see up the creek systems in NSW and QLD all the time and it kills the fishing.

I fished beauy till 4, black rock till 5 and another spot until 6. nada.

Mason fished brighton with Re and had a shocker too i think.

Phosphorescence, any of you lot seen it and had good fishing?

I guys,

New member here!!!!

Been squid fishing on and off since I was a kid (im 39 now), used to do a lot of overnighs with my dad at flinders, sleeping in the back of the Valiant safari (what is it with wo*%s and valiants ?) <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> .

Now that I'm married with kids i'm starting to get back into land based fishing catchin anything that tastes good....and I love squid.

Now for the report.

I went to Brighton yesterday, got there about 5 am, was the only one there. Ink stains everywhere and fresh ( looked like a squid feast Fri nite). Another fisho arrived soon and in about 1 hr of fishing we both got 1 each (500-600 g) and lost 1 each. And I lost no jigs....

I even saw a 2 squid on the surface fighting or kissing...

I try to do as much fishing as the misses lets me, she works on weekends ( she started after lunch so I escaped ).
