Has anyone ever fished the pier at the bottom of Kerford Road (off beach road, Melbourne)? I fished it Sat night for no squid, but there was plenty of ink on the pier. It is quite well lit, as piers go.

Hi Jazman,
Just to help others,
Kerferd Rd Pier is about half way between Station Pier and St Kilda marina.

Thanks Glen
There is another similar pier to Kerferd Rd a few kms toward Station pier. Also, has anyone ever fished for squid from Station Pier? It looks VERY well lit.

I checked out Lagoon Pier last night, fished for around 1 hour for nothing, it was quite windy though.

Some parts of the pier (mostly around the lights) were covered in ink.

hey guys
Fished Queenscliff peir two night this week (wed&thurs) and the situation down thier isnt much chop
The first night was squidless and the second was fustrating with lots of squid and a feww cuttlefish in the water but no bites managed three small to med squid all night. There were also squid present in the boat harbour at Queenscliff but again they were very shy on the bite. However on angler did entice some interest in the squid using a grey and bronze coloured fresh water lure ( I dunno go figure )
Every time he put this lure in front of the squid they attacked it with vigour but failed to hook up, I at this stage could not believe my eyes as I had tried every lure and jig known to man but they would just swim away, Along come this guy with a trout lure and they were chasing it like their was no tomorrow, if he managed to hook up he would have cleaned up
Just goes to show you how much colour can make a difference when squid fishing
Hope to go again next week so stay tuned

G'day has any one eva landed a squid off kerfed rd pier be fore

Ari
Any pier from mornington to lagoon pier has calamari in may, june and july. Times and conditions change from year to year but the times I described have worked for me this autumn/winter.
With clear water and a bit of wind sight fishing them under a light is the norm however sometimes casting into darker deeper areas and retrieving back to the light seems to work. Think small this time of year and if a bigger one follows wack on a 4.0 straight away.......

hey guys, kerferd road pier can be fantastic! ive watched a guy land 3 squid in like 10 mins which is better than ive ever seen! it can also be great fishing for bream, flathead, snapper, garfish, mullet and even leather jacket! i find the best way to go is a two hook paternoster rig with chicken (for bream) or calamari (for mullet and snapper). the pink and orange jigs work best for the squid.

happy fishing,

Tried this pier for 2 hours last Sunday night (Oct 14th) for the first time. A few big stains right near the start of the pier, but I wasn't expecting anything and after we had 6 artificial jigs of all colours we went to Windsor for a good pizza and a couple glasses of claret <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />
Never happier than on a quiet pier, on a cold, dark, wet night, with a bucket to sit on, pole in hand and a fully charged iPod.
