Like I said I get mine every year even before the law change.  The monies collected from

sales is supposed to go to new areas to open access to fishing spots and to repair existing

areas/platforms. 

There definitely seems to be a lack of squid after all the blitzs some of us enjoyed.

Will be going wed night with Frances Fleet with couple friends to give it a try.  Not really

feeling warm and fuzzy about it with fullish moon but should be overcast and hopefully

it wont be rough, hate trying to fish and hold on at the same time.  Will give report when

I get back.

Boston inshore water temp just hit 50 degrees, lets see if all those eggs hatch.

It's only $7. Check the DEM site it has a PDF report on how much money was collected and what it was used for.


The current reconstruction on the public gallie boat ramp is partly funded by it.


CT, MA, NY licenses can be used in RI. Just as RI license can be used in those states.


As for squid reports. 6 squids all wweekend for me.

I was at GI yesterday from noon to 5 and caught 14 squid. The tide was coming in. There were some nice runs but short lived. Many other folks caught more than me, some left with half a bucket full, I don't know what time they started fishing. Saw some sea robins but no bait fish. Some large squid were caught earlier and then a bunch of medium sized ones.

Fished GI on Monday from 530am  to about 330pm. Caught half a bucket with most of them being very large. May try again on Thursday.

Full buckets yesterday afternoon (10am-3pm) at GI. Bunch of ppl lost jigs to this long rope in the water by the second light on the bridge... Will be out there soon, will report back

Bring a weighted grappling hook on a heavy line and snag the floating rope skwidbert mentioned. It's probably a lobster pot with the buoy cut of. You should be able to pull it right up and out of there. But, it could also be an anchor lodged in the rocks, that someone left. If so, at least, the weight of the hook you're going to lose will pull the whole mess to the bottom. Just a thought... Btw, 46 in 2.5 hours in Stonington last night. :-)

I was in JT yesterday and it was sucks.

I only able to get 3 large tubes for 5 hours.

I think GI will be best bet.

It's good with a light source and no sinker. Day time is good when they're in and blitzing, otherwise it's really inconsistent. Landed 25 in 4 hours today from 12-4pm

A lot of it is just being at the right place at the right time. When I have been out there, a blitz moved through the far end of the GI causeway. Then one moved through at the corner of the stone wall. Then one moved through some boats that were squidding. Meanwhile, I managed 3 in 3 hours. I'm sure after I left, a blitz moved through the spot I was and everyone around ended up with full buckets. Also, with the moon shining bright overhead it tends to spread the bait (and the squid) out. The light doesn't do anything for the squid. If you can get out during the day, by all means, get out there. You can't win if you don't play.

Spent a little time down in Beverly last night, there was a guy down there with testing out a new underwater light he just built.  No squid but plenty of sea worms swimming around.  Turns out building these lights is relatively cheap.

I took the boat to Pt. Judith where we fished from 6:30-11:30 last night. We filled a 54 qt cooler with all large and jumbo tubes, no mediums or smalls. Drifted around and plucked a dozen while it was still light. Found some concentrations of bait (squid) on the sounder in 26 ft of water not far down the beach out of the West Gap. Anchored up, threw a couple of mini-hydroglows into the water and a chum pot with old frozen spearing. The Francis boat came out and started drifting where we were but much deeper. They drifted past the Charlston Breachway and almost out of sight. They eventually came into where we were and set up a little East of us, just outside the Gap, where they were when we left. Standard Yozuri jigs were the ticket. Color didn’t seem to matter much. They came in waves. We could have filled another cooler if we wanted to spend the night.
Am getting to old for that.

Snaildarter are you the rubber boat out there?  Fished with Frances fleet last night and we started at the shoal and just drifted.

It was fair to good with activity spread around the boat.  A few times we had blitz's that lasted maybe 10 minutes.  When we

drifted into a concentration they anchored up and fishing died.  Ran back up by the shoal and they anchored again and fishing

died.  Drifting was for sure the best.  Ended up with 1/2 bucket of mixed sizes.  If anyone is interested they go 7pm to 1am dock

to dock.  $45.  Pretty relaxing way to squid fish off that big platform that can move.

And yes they are getting squid from the docks at pt judith.  There were a few boat  owners bitchin about the ink mess on

their boats.  So if you go please respect others property.
