I was in my favourite tackle shop today and spotted this jag - ill get a pic of it up here soon. Anyway, it is just like a normal jag, except that the hooks on the bottom are much wider - which i hope will lead to a higher hook up rate when i use it...........
Might be going fishing in the morning so will test it out..........

well my friend if ur after some info on squidding uve come to the right place. take a good look around the forum and ull be sure to find almost everything u need. however here in australia we typically use a prawn style jig (colour and size are ur preference or the squids rather, theres a poll going at the moment on the site so take a look again). the other popular way here is to use a baited jig, where you slide a fish onto a long steel rod with barbs, and sit them under a float (head or tail first ive seen it done both ways) i see alot of american ppl prefer the standard plastic jig that is just an oval shape, i have purchased some myself recently and are waiting to try them. failing all that, just ask ya local tackle shop bloke, hes bound to know what the squid like in ur area..... cheers.
Remember you cant keep all of the squid happy all of the time, only some of the squid some of the time...

you can buy jigs for as little as AUS$2 and up to about $26 for the most expensive ones. go for a mid range jig like yamashita for starters. they work well, are well balanced, and last a fairly long time. should cost around $10.

I like your site, and I think it's fair to give back some anyways....
what me might be able to use the jigs as raffle prizes for members. I have seen other chat boards where they have point systems for those that make useful contributions to the forums. They gradually build up points over time and then receive some sort of prize. Perhaps a squid jig would work ok.
I will do a bit more research into how this would work.

As far as brands for squid jigs, the only "Brand" you will find me selling is "Colman's Fishing Supply" I won't carry a competitors brand name.
The ones that I will be listing soon are very nice, I'm quite sure I will have a lot of good response from them.
I will have several others that I will be adding first part of September as well. Some of which will be the smaller fancy jigs, with larger hook designs.
Anyone heard of "Shark Tackle"??? had someone from there contact me about interest in purchasing. I believe he is in Tasmania.

I have some REALLY HOT new models that I'm working on right now as well, that I will have in September.
So what are your favorite sizes??? I've heard a lot of guys talk about using size 2.0 or so but lose a lot due to small hooks. Perhaps some size 2.0 with a better set of hooks???
I am new in squid jigging. I saw many choices of squid jigs on the market. I am fairly confused not knowing which really work. The prawn type, pick jig or soft jig, luminous or plain.
I have seen friends used prawn jigs, don't know which brand and I also read on various jigs by Juicy, Colman, baitattack etc pointing in one direction each claiming the best. Please help me out. I am stuck!

I think in general, they all work, but each have their own place. Every place you look, you're going to find a different bunch of people that like a certain type.
Here in the USA, most of the east coast squidders prefer the luminous prawn style. Here on the West coast people like the colored cylinder styles like juicy or Colman's "puget sound pleaser" style. The canadians seem to really like the soft luminous jigs.
The 6 angles jigs that I sell seem to go ALL OVER, be it East and West coast of USA, Australia, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, and a few others.
Personally, I would go by the look and quality of what you like, and what is used in your area. Don't pay an arm or a leg for them either.
