Hi BlackAjah! Actually, there are many people do the squid fishing in HK.
The water quality is not that poor, and there is quite a lot of squids. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />
If you are interested in squid fishing in Hong Kong, try the Deep water bay, Repulse Bay and the Sai Kung area <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

usually, we catch one type of cuttlefish which is Sepia (Acanthosepion) pharoanis Ehrenberg (wight up to 4kg, normal 1~3kg), and one type of squid which is Sepioteuthis lessoniana Lesson (wight up to 3kg, normal 800g~2kg). <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

Looking for a day or evening squid fishing tour in Hong Kong. Anyone know an operator? Preferably leaving from somewhere on Hong Kong island rather than out at Sai Kung but any help would be great.
I've a couple of boys who are mad about fishing and squid fishing most of all. They'd be thrilled if you have a few numbers to call.

hi rodney, welcome to the forum.
it might be worth sending a Personal Message (PM) to Nautilusly to see if he ended up going to Hong Kong or not.
cheers, glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Hi Rodney,
There might be operators in Hong Kong but all the ones we contacted are actually from Sai Kung (organised by various big restaurants i think). Price was somewhat between 20-25 AUD$ per person which was quite ok. I didnt ended up going because they require to take enough bookings to fill a boat before they will sail out, so it is better to organise more friends to go together <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/zorro.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> . I didnt organise it and dont have the phone number with me, but i think you can find them somewhere online. will ask my friend to have a look and see if she can find anything. Good luck! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />

Are you still around? I am now living most of the time in Sivermine Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Do you know if it would be worth fishing or squid here? maybe around the ferry pier?

I just noticed your post is quite recent. Are you living in Hong Kong or visiting?
I can't give you much advice on catching squid in HK but if you are planning a visit I can help you find accomodation and help you get around. Maybe join you for a fishing trip.

There are quite a number of photographs relating to squid fishing in my photo album which is put on my blog site at http://michaelchu15.spaces.live.com . I am sorry to say that they are all in Chinese, but you may have a little knowledge of squid fishing in HK SAR when you look at my fishing diary and photo album. Most likely there are two kinds of squid fishing. I do the squid jigging. Most likely, you would have better results(around 1-2kg) when you do squid jigging after November each year, and possibly up to the end of February in the coming year. Of course, you can do squid jigging all year round in HK, but the size of which would be terribly small.
