Anyone have Any luck in greenport from the railroad docks lately? I went out last weekend for a few hours one night and there was only one other group there. No squid caught. It was very windy that day. I was thinking of trying tomorrow night I heard its going to be cloudy all day.

A lot of helpful info here! After reading decided to give it a go from my boat off mamaroneck in long island sound. Dropped a green led down about 12 feet last friday night and was amazed to see all the bait fish surround it. Friend and I dropped our squid jigs slightly away from the light and started getting Squid on our first try! I am hooked for sure- they were delicious!

Starting off the posting for New York Squid 2017. Went to Greenport yesterday for an hour or so, couple hours after the high tide. Was drizzling rain and a little windy. No sign of squid. Will be out of state for a few days but will try again next weekend.

Any one planning another private charter trip this year? I had a great time and would love to go again. It was the last time I caught and ate fresh squid.

Hey crabby,

Where did you get a charter out of for squid fishing? Is it Captree? What month did you go in? I've never squid fished from a boat only at docks but I would definately be interested.

Was at Montauk harbor on Monday night about 9:30PM, saw one guy was fishing for squid, empty bucket.

Walk by the same guy about 45 min later, there is one squid in his bucket about 7 - 8 inches. They are coming!

Fished Greenport 4/29 and 5/6 . All night and only gad 8 one night and 4 another night. Of course hot nights on 4/27 and 4/28 when guys had 40-60 each. Proble us on 4/39 harbor master came into pier and forbid us from using gas powered generators. Do not having my good light affected my score. Just wrong, they don't want you there that's why. If you guys go bring battery powered lights. Those you can use but not as good so we are screwed. I think bigger crimes are occurring that using generator to try and catch some squid. Just my opinion!! Catch em up.
