Been reading the On The Water fishing reports and they say Squids are all along lit piers and wharf from Nahant to Rockport. Going to give it a try again later tonight to see how that goes. Will keep you guys updated !
Ive seen people catch about a quarter bucket up in gloucester last night. None for me lol. It looks like they're only interested in eating during tide changes. Its picking up now.
Thanks for the heads up simpleskillz. Between my father and myself we managed 15 squid (the small type) in a little over an hour last night. It was his first time squidding and he managed to out catch me. It did seem like the bite slowed 1.5-2hrs after high tide. Anyone having luck further south of Gloucester (Beverly, Salem)?
Just got back from the pier and managed 17 small to medium sized squid, which is my best night so far this year. Oddly enough, 16 of these squid were caught in about a 15 minute stretch of hooking up everytime I put the jig in the water. Other than this short stretch it was slow going. I got these just after high tide.
Nice catch Scott.. That must have been just after i left last night? Figures.. I will be going down to the pier tonight to try again, Hopefully them little inkers will be waiting.. hope to see you there!

I'm not familiar with the rules in Gloucester but at the Beverly pier it's legal to fish at night. I just got home from there, quite a few people still there at 1:30am but nobody catching anything. I got a couple squid to bite but wasn't able to get them up into the bucket. TGIF.
Hey Scott I found that spot in Nahant were they caught those squid, it's off Wharf st. It's the only pier like structure on the island. You were right Bing maps offer better birds eye view. Thanks for the tip!
Just got in from the pier, pretty slow night, 3 lonely squid tonight. There was a blaring full moon out there which I assume didn't help with concentrating them around the lights of the pier. I'll be back tomorrow night to give it another go.
From all the flooding this areas fishing has suffered. All the fresh water run offs are keeping us from catching squid. Hopefully this will change in the next couple of weeks. Tonight I caught 3 sizable squids over a period of 3 hours. Â

Hi Janz, I haven't been up to Gloucester but from what I've been hearing, they are having similar results as Beverly, occasional periods of squid but nothing major. Like Greenlightman said, this rain we had this past week seems to have put a damper on the squid catches. The good news...it's Friday and I have a hankering for the taste of squid. (Actually I could just go in my freezer and grab some ) Let's hope this weekend shows us some improvements. Good luck out there.
