Season 2004
#1
Hi all

Well the season is off to an early and good start.

Reports have been filtering through and all I can say is it looks like we are in for a great season

The big spawners have arrived and its time to dust off the jigs

Lets go squidding

The Point Lonsdale Bight like every year is where the action starts in the bay and there have been monster squid to 3.5 kilos caught with baited jigs and shrimp hunter lures by far the most lethal method

It has been my expirience that these big spawners bite the best on baited jigs however lures will do the job but not as well in my opinion.

Most piers around the bay have seen good sized squid and bag limits are not uncommon with Flinders firing up as I write this report but reports suggest problems with anglers over fishing and breaking line limit laws this is very common for this pier

MtMartha rock fisho,s have been successful with squid to 2.5kgs being caught

Mornington pier has seen squid but only to the kilo mark and again not in big numbers garfish are in good numbers from the pier.

The area from St Leonards to Queenscliff has an abundance of squid and the only thing to do is find a school and bag limits can be produced in a short amount of time .

While we are here I would like to thank Glen for his work on keeping this site going

and congratulate him on a job well done. From all we squidders Glen thank you

so there we have it good news for squidders I will be out giving the squid a go this week and will report back soon till then see you on the water

Hey supersquid.

Looks like a pretty productive area!

Havent been squidding for ages and ages - would be getting close to 8 or so months since ive gone and targetted them. Looks like i might have to go and give them a crack soon. Will have to see if i can round up a fishing partner to come out in the next 2-3 weeks!!
