Cephalopod Histology
#1
Hi,

I want to make a stay (1 or 2 months) with someone who could help me about gonad cephalopod histology. The objective would be learn histology techniques, recognise ovary structures and different phenomena (like atresia) mainly in Octopus vulgaris (or in a similar species).

I hope your answer. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />. Thanks.

Hi Pilar, welcome to squidfish <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Are you from Australia or overseas? I know that in the School of Aquaculture at the University of Tasmania they do some research on squid, including gonad studies, but not octopus (as far as I know). Contacting them might be a good place to start, the names of some of the researchers are C.G. Carter and Natalie Moltschaniwskyj.

I don't know these people but a friend of mine did his undergraduate degree in the School of Aquaculture and pointed me in this direction.

Good luck
