The dates on the picture show the first one taken on 6/5/06 and the second one taken 5/6/06. If the dates/times stored from your camera are right, it's actually getting less crowded as time goes on! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



Incidently, if the dates/times stored on the photos are correct, the 5/6 picture was taken 2 hours after high tide in hyannis. The 6/5 picture was taken 3 hours after high tide in hyannis. Are you trying to discretely tell us that the best time to squid is on the falling tide?

I NEVER asked for a spot burn unless you consider the question;" pier or boat ?", to be that specific as to constitute a spot burn and I don't know anyone (else) that thinks that.

This is all moot.





The squid are gone. The weather kept them away and the spawn is happening offshore this year.

Sure there are still some around but nothing at all like it should be.



It's a shame- I was hoping my last year on Cape Cod was gonna be a good one.



I'm leaving this forsaken place, going to Florida and starting over.



Between the deranged regulators/ions and the weather and the economy, delivering pizzas is looking pretty good at this point.



As soon as the sale on our home is done- bye bye.





I'll come back every summer and go bass fishing and leave again......

Unfortunatly in life some have a need to be better then others when it comes to any type of fishing.



When you have to make a living from the sea it is very hard to share the knowledge as in some cases it may take a few fish from your catch, but if one is as great as they claim to be it really should not matter in the end.



I would agree that when the bite is slow smaller jigs have a tendency to catch more for what ever reason, but then I do not consider myself the grand master of Squid fishing as a whole.



Floro Carbon can make a difference in the catch especially when the bite is on the slow side and the pods are not stacked to heavy. Depending on your point of view a master most likely would also increase his catch a bit should they give it a go.



After the weather breaks the Squid on the open water will most likely be scattered as the Sea Bass potters set up in the same places in the same spawning grounds and with the Blue fish making an appearance You will need to a master squidder to put a few in the tote's .



I wish you well in Florida It is a whole different place to fish and the compitition is about the same , but given you are the grand wisard of the Cape I am sure you will learn how to fish in warmer waters, at least in the winter months. It may cool of your temperment a little.

Sir Loligo I am sure that in the confines of fishing we have met somewhere, It may have been in a boat or perhaps along the vast shore line we all call Cape Cod or even Rhody. Some times it was pleasant and then again maybe not.



It has been stated that when the fishing is slow only the best rise to the top. As any one can put fish in the box when the numbers are far greater, even a novice first timer,like your self, gets lucky once in a while. I know you have expounded on your fishability over the years and how great you may be.



Poundage does not allways equate into how good one may or may not be, but for some it gives them a false ego on how good they actually are.



Watch out for the wier trap,coming off the beach [you know where] The seals are beginning to set up waiting for supper,dinner and breakfast. Around the clock fishing is best done when you have a friendly face in the boat or along side on the shore line. It does wonders for the ego and can even make one a little humble at times. The solar lamps work really good for the dim times, if you put out enough.



Now a real fisherman would have been out on the water the past severel days. I know we will get a break tonight so maybe we will see you out along the water catching the last run of squid, before they get chased away. Good Luck

Geez , guys here just trying to catch some seafood and could use some help. And I believe the waters of our country belong to all of us. Some believe they own certain areas. Being a commercial fisherman for years I can see why some guys get jerked when they see alot of others catching their money fish. But the truth is it belongs to all of us not a greedy few who care nothing but fill the hold this trip and forget about next trip. No wonder their's no fish out their. We tried catching them all for a pile of money, which we are paying for now. Myself being just as guilty. We should all just be happy we're able to go fishing and at least catch something to eat. Allways tastes better when you catch em yourself. Maybe the govt. could be right in stopping all this overfishing. Our children might be able to go hook em up.

I was just on the Hyline cruise party boat and we didn't bother with squid. I did see one floating under a patch of seaweed but we went fishing for tautog and seabass.

Yep, called the office, they cancelled tommorrows trip for sure. I came in with full buckets on Sunday, but that was an anomoly, for the most part it is still pretty slow. The commercial boats arent doing any better yet either.
