Newport Ri 2015 Squid Season
Anyone go squiding lately?

Squid are in I have been catching them in the 8 inch range from my kayak during the day in JT. Will try tomorrow. Heard newport was catching on Saturday morning
@algreenjr thanks for the report.  Hope they are still around on the weekends.  Also hope that it is not too packed, squid jig tangled lines are the worst!

Went to JT on my kayak before the wind blew me off the water caught 3 dozen. Season still early saw my best last fall in the first two weeks of november

Hey. Al

Been a while. I hope your report bring bunch of monkeys on the spot.
Hi Bruce has been awhile hope things are going good not much spring action spent mine with the a new addition to the family and she is a hand full. Late season I use my kayak during the day a do good up until dark. Last year I caught a bucket in three hours in my kayak no lines tangling or people over my shoulder and finding them with a fish finder is easier than waiting for them BTW they like attacking jigs on the move in the current. Hope to see out out there we still have time the larger one are not in yet two or three weeks from now

I know I can do much beter with kayak but I just don't have time during the day.

However, Im glad your hands got full lol

Hope I can see you around.

Regards.

P.S it was sucks last time when I went down at JT with bunch of ppls. They can't get any luck. Haha
Went to GI last night. Too many ppls but I ended up one bucket of big tubes within 3hours.

May be out there again.
Went to JT last night.  Not too many people.  Ended up with a quarter bucket of small to medium size within 4 hours.  Wind was crazy and it was cold.  Most people packed up after 10, but the hardcore squiders still remains.

Anyone noticed the residential skunk that lives there?  I tried to give it skipjack one time, but it just ignored it.  I guess it is too good for my skipjack.  It would sneak up on people and scare the shitz out of them.  I think it just want to be petted by someone.
Got 1bucket in no time at GI.

Sizes are middium to giant.

Will go there againSmile
My wife did the Bridge Run and had to go pick up her race packet on Saturday afternoon. I took the kids down to the GI Causeway to see the water and go for a short walk. No one was fishing but there was squid ink everywhere in spots. Just like my experience this Spring, it seems it is feast or famine where there are huge, tightly clustered pods of squid and nothing outside of that.

It's been so quiet because everyone is too busy to catch squid.

Well good for me, less ppls there less headache haha
Went Saturday night to JT after Taug at BT and it was packed, but only saw 1/8 of a buckets or less from each person.  Also it was low ebb tide.  Decided to go home.

@Squiderbruce, you tried GI this past weekend?  How was it there?

Was at goat island last Friday from 1am to 4 am. Cold and windy!!! Worth the trip. Caught over 100!!! Will go again this Friday or Saturday.

It wasn't bad. I've been caught more than 2bucket every time I go.

It will be perfect weather and tide this saturday night and I can't wait for it.

So far so good.
