they were in pretty thick around a certain area in Newport Friday. the wind and choppy seas turned them off on Saturday. there was plenty of baby squids around my light. they no less than 1inch in length.

well every night I stay until daybreak haha from midnight to about 5am and I catch a little over half a bucket. 70-90 squid using a led light. been pretty steady in Newport/janestown around those times.

how is Jamestown ???
I was at Fort Adams from 3 - 6 am this morning and only caught 10 small one.

New to this forum, hello

We went to newport twice for squid fishing recently, last Friday (May 29th) and this past Wednesday (June 3rd).

Last Friday was much better, managed to catch ~80 with 2 hours (9:30-11:30pm),  Wednesday is super slow, only got 20.

How to add pictures? It didn't allow me to use imgur images.
Last three nights so slow
I can tell you my last 2 fishing trips on western buzzards bay that the schools of squid I marked on

my fish finder before are now gone.  Big sea bass still good, not as many giant scup/porgy and got

my first fluke Friday.

Pretty quiet.   Haven't heard anything about squid.  They should be getting them by now around boston.

Saw millions of hatched baby squid in Bristol. What's that usually mean 👀?
Squidding soon bad right now. Whose still hammering them right now on land?
@skwidbert. Means that you just skunked at Bristol. Lol
First time finding this forum and posting, went out to goat island last night got there around 1215am-5am, no one was really there but us and we only got 3 baby squid the whole time. Are we late? I've only gone a handful of times in the past years and before we got bucket fulls. Are we just going at the wrong time or what?

If I had to guess, it was probably the rain/cold that made them "off". However, Goat Island has been less than stellar this year. There is also a huge lack of small bait around, so there isn't much out there to concentrate the squid. Given the high numbers of baby squid, I would guess we are in for a killer Fall run. However, given the absence of small bait, if we get huge numbers of blues around, that might not end up the case. In any case, the squid should be around all Summer and into the Fall if you're inclined to look for them.
It's been quiet on this forum for a week now. Anybody having any luck? I was out on a boat doing trawling on Monday and we caught 15-20 pretty small squid (2-3 inches) but no big squid...

There were 4 of us out at the Goat Island Bridge tonight for about an hour. No squid.
