Just spent an hour in Jamestown. Tried all sorts of jigs. They water is veryclear but no sign of squids anywhere. BTW anyone know how to get cheap pass to cross the Newport bridge? $8 round trip is a lot to pay. Also what's a good way to spot reef beds above water? Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Quote:Why did you post this , you know its not true! This is crap. Stop shooting down people for trying to post a report. Take it or leave it. Each individuals report or advice deserves a chance. There those more trust is earned not expected. But shooting down a poster is not productive. many a times I have driven from since march. Not every time i see squid, not every time I catch squid.. even when they are running. I remember April 1st.. small pod of jumbos.. enough to fill 3 buckets.. could see them but they wouldn't eat Went back for 3 straight weeks not a single squid. on the 4th week just little ones.. Its about time for squid. Stop chasing reports and go try.. in all honesty y'all probably be catchin cause most a. don't post or b. Post negative reports to keep the crowds away.

I was at the boat today down at point judith pond. Whgile I didnn't expect to see squid, I did expect to see the bait, and nada. No baitfosh, no predators.
 Tick tock.

Gilligan, I am not familiar with fall squid fishing. What month are the squid in for the fall?

What month are the squid in for the fall?I am on the Vinyard in the fall and usually hammer them in October there, but they are in Newport and CT, and on the Cape the same time. People catch them at those locations well into November, sometimes even into early December. I'll try in eastern CT tonight and tomorrow night. Good luck, I hope we get a massive spring run this year!

@SquiderBruce....This is the first time i've hard of squid being in when the cherry blossoms bloom. Â I don't doubt it. Â I find it interesting because my friends told me that Taugs are in when the dandelions bloom. Â
Going for Taug, Striper, and Squid this weekend.  If i catch any squid, I'll post up a picture with a date stamped to make it legit. Â

It's about that time that someone is catching squid. Â My first trip was last year in Hyannis on April 19. So we are two weeks behind. Â Since it is cold this year.
I think this weekend might be the weekend. Catch them guys. Â Just a photo from last year. Â It's time to get you guys excited. [sharedmedia=gallery:images:917]
I ordered a few of these. Hopefully they work for me this year.Â
[sharedmedia=gallery:images:945] Â By the way, these came from Japan. Â But made in Vietnam. Any of my Vietnamese friends. Â Grab them if you see them in Vietnam.
