Nice cant wait.

Last year was my first time squidding and didn't realized the ink can really stain the boat once dried up. This year I'm game up n bring a brush clean it while it wet.

What rod/reel u all using?

Before you start squidding, spray your deck wet and continue to spray. When you catch your squid, dont bring the squid into the boat right away but let it empty the squid sack.

Thanks for the tip

Spray on bleach to completely and effortlessly wipe out squid ink, even when it's dried on and sunbaked.

Does anyone think they will be coming in earlier this year because of the warmer weather we have been having?

Alternatively, you could paint your entire boat the same color as squid ink.

Water temperatures in lower Narragansett Bay are looking average to slightly above average depending on where you look.

After conferring with my aching bones, the smoke rings from my pipe, and the flock of flying rats on the roof of my shanty, my guess would be May 6th for the beginning of the decent inshore run in the Bay.

I always use the 2nd-3rd week of May for the beginning of the squid run in Newport. It will vary a little bit depending on weather extremes......but not a whole lot. Just my two cents.

Captain Pumpkinhead.....love your post and I am looking to read some more of your posts in the future. Humor is a very good thing, sometimes fishermen are a bit too serious!

Anybody aware of any small boat charters or individuals looking to split costs for fuel for a trip or two when they start arriving in Hyannis area?  My boat is not going to be ready in time this year (some major work underway), but I'm really looking to fill the bait freezer and put some fresh calamari on the table but need to team up or get a walk-on with another charter (it's just me....)

Thanks - Capt Steve

Dicks sporting goods is running a buy 4 get 1 free on the yozuri Aurora squid jigs. If anyone is looking for jigs. I've used them for 2 years now and I have killed the squid with them

Thanks algreenjr,

Unfortunately I got to Dicks Sporting goods and it's closed.

I couldn't get anything I need lately

Luckily I already owned all my fishing and hunting Gears and ammo.

Still have about 2 dozen squid jigs.

I guess they class as non-essential store.
