Greenport, Li Ny Squid Season 2007

It is very disappointing. I am going to try tomorrow (fri) night. Will get there around 10:30pm with my light. Last weekend we caught a total of 8 squid (2 last thurs night and 6 last fri night) in about 7 hours total, so they are around, but just not in the numbers of previous years. As we approach the second weekend in May already, I don't know if we're going to see a decent run at all this year. Sucks.

alots of things can cause squid outtage



temperature of the water.

low & high tides.

time of the day.



well forget that / this year sucks period.

now i need to wait for another long whole season.

I feel your pain, GT_R. Is there some kind of "fall season"? I had heard something about a fall season but have never confirmed it.

think so...my father told me today...that he used to just catch squid whenever he needed bait. He used to catch them on sinkers......( by accident of course ).

I just got back.12am.......not a one.

4 squid or 4 buckets?! Haha. If it was 4 buckets, that was the quickest squid run in Greenport history -- 1 night! That has to be bs. I hate to admit defeat so I will give it a shot tonight...me and my brother-in-law. We'll be the two guys with the yellow pull-cart. Stop by and say hello if you're there. Will report back tomorrow.

4bucket was from a lady in newport yes, she caught 4 bucket full



around this time last year ..

when the squid season was ending..

wow what happened to squid populations..

i give up this year.. just done putting away my lights & batteries.

Good call GT_R. Went last light from 11pm-12:30am. Very few people there. Caught 1. That's it. I'm done.

Fished last night from about 7:30 to just before midnight, not one bite and no one brought anything up except for a rag at the end of dock. Nada Zippo! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':moped:' />

Caught 5 last night....took 10 min. to catch 4....then an hour and a half to catch the other.

Dear Skyline, I spoke directly to two gentleman who fished the railroad docks on on early Sunday morning(10/21/07') at around 2:30 AM -6:30 AM. High tide was at 6:30 AM. One of them caught 21 and the other caught 4. They told me there was no one there fishing, and that the pier was totally dark. The same two guys told me that they were catching rather large northern kingfish(2-3 Lbs.) during the day on worms the previous week, along with scup.
