time has come once again....
anyone with any stories / reports on greenport docks
please let us know..
this year the temperature has been very milder
hopefully which makes excellent for squidfishing.

hello all
i cant wait to start the '07 squid fishing season, but i heard rumors that they closed down the orient point docks due to numerous complaints of abuse - ie litter.
is that dock the same one as the greenport docks this forum refers to? or am i referring to a totally different area?
if so, would someone be kind enough to guide me on where to get driving directions? i go out there taking the L.I.E.
any help is very much appreciated.

I saw an unconfirmed report that someone did well in montauk a night or two ago. If they are in Montauk, greenport will be within a week or two.

I'm heading out tomorrow night. I heard the docks are roped off and the town is charging $5 to squid. We'll see how it is tomorrow night...

i was there during the day yesterday
.. theres no signs of ropes or fee chargings anything like that

Glad to hear that. On the website [url="http://www.greenport.cc"]http://www.greenport.cc[/url] under the Message Board (Greenport Questions & Answers) there is a post about squid fishing and how the town is going to try to charge money and limit areas. It was in the Suffolk Times newspaper too. Let's hope they don't start until next year! ha!
