I killed the squid in Boston. my friends did just as well in revere. Just gotta fish for em and try it.

Do you fish from piers (like we do in the Northwest) or from boats or shore?

Sorry for the late reply! been MIA



I was catching squid all the way til the beginning of September, in and around Boston. It was good in the beginning of the summer and then the squid become sporatic at best.



I am actually in Australia now squiding.. Big squid.



They will be in Boston late May. hopefully. Mainly around docks and piers. Put your time in it and you'll find em, they constantly move around but have a pretty set pattern.

i've only been alive 22 years. there are many things still to learn. I am fishing around the boston area. south and north. I have yet to catch one in the harbor. But i've been told they do though =).



the numbers are nothing like r.i., thats why you probbaly dont ever hear about it. I have been told by old timers where they've seen/encountered them over the years yet i've never tried there yet. there are still many spots I have yet to check out throroughly.. but most of my squid fishing is done outside the harbor system.. revere-quincy.

Your last note was over a week ago, what's shakin since? I'm up on the Northshore and haven't heard of anything except rumors. Where in Revere were you having luck, Pt of Pines?

I went down to Newport 2 weeks ago and it was good, but I don't want to drive so far this time. I'm going to check out Beverly, let me know if you find any near Boston.

... im in australia.. so i could not tell you where they are.. but i have a few sources that let me know the details thats happening.. i just like to listen and comment.. i keep a mental note of where thigns are and when they get there so i have a better understanding of the ""bigger picture"".

I am new to squidding. Any advice on what to use for catching squid in the outer harbor (rigs, techniques, etc). I am out of hull by boat. I have heard that nut island pier in quincy is a good place to start, any other spots recomended. Any advice on how to rig them for live-lining is appreciated as well.

Look around.. get a good sonar unit.. tune it correctly.. pick up the masses of squid.. drop a squid rig.. i heard candy catchers do good.. but i am a yo zuri guy.



Caution: don't drive your boat and fish nut island pier (they will try to peg u if u get too close).. fish the chanel if you have too.. but there are other locations than just west gut.. There are spots closer to hull. =). just think how its structurly set up at west gut and find similar areas near u. pm if you have questions





As for livelining.. one hook through the top of the mantle. or a tandem rig.. one through the tip top of the squid and one barely through the back side (not the stiff side) just before the head.



I stick my hooks directly through the mouth and into the mantle. But this kills the squid.

I work at Logan Airport, and although I'm not sure where my coworkers go, there are several places in the Boston and Quincy areas to go.



From what they've told me, there is plenty of parking, and a fairly large dock to stand on, and it's not over-populated.



As I get more details, I'll let you all know.

From what I was told, the parking is OK, and the dock is not overpopulated, and best fished in mid to late May.



I'm only passing along what a coworker has told me. If anyone does head out that way, please let me know how the squidding is.

I had been there three times in April, the last time was Saturday 4-26. Very nice place indeed, not crowed at all (maybe it's just the very beginning of the season). I hangout there for couple of hours rollerblading but I haven't seen anyone catch anything, yet.



Where are you from TentacleWrestler? maybe we can fish together.
