Causeway was slow last night except for one fella. He was using a 2.5 " green dimple Yo-Zuri. My small blue Vietnamese which has been working great struck out. Also off the causeway I fished down at the rock wall corner. Squid hit hard for 15 minutes. This is the second time this has happened. It seems if you have the first light at the corner you get banging squid for 15 minutes. The larger 2.5â Yo-Zuris seem to be working better than the smaller Martinettis. The 1/2 oz. weight in the middle jig on end is the rig of choice. However size wise you canât go wrong with a Martinetti in you pocket.
Went squiding this past Sat. night. Not quite the numbers I was hoping for. Fished for about four hours and caught around 20 squid. Bluefish were very active chasing the squid, making them somewhat skiddish at times. On a good note I was able to meet some really cool people from this forum. I may try again sometime this week. Good luck out there! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I am in a funk can't catch anything any more. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Thanks for your offer, so i actually took home 19 <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
just after u left, I caught 5 or 6 in half hour, and then dead...
I shifted to another end of bridge, and caught about 10 in one hour, and then deadly slow...
Dave caught more than 30, and other people caught more than 10.
You probably know Dave's setup. I don't have small jigs, so I just used my spring lures.
I put blue or luminous on top, pink in the middle, and pink at the bottom. I caught most squid on pink. I don't know color matters or just because they were close to bottom.

5-6 Squid after I left. That the way it always works. Dave is really fun to fish with. He really pounds squid when there is nothing else to be had. Man, I still like that big eye Yo-Zui you got. It is just different and it pounds squid. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Alan thanks for your help. Suzy squid and I really appreciated it. Together we caught 18. The squid will make a delicious pot of calamri fradiavlo sauce served over capalini to be highlited with a bottle of Merlot.

WOW Sounds lots better than my boiled squid. Accually boiled is not too bad. Really cool to have you all the way from New Haven.
[quote name='Tatonka' post='9550' date='Nov 2 2007, 07:52 AM']Thinking of one last try tonight before that Nor'Easter slams us on Sat. Has anyone had much luck this past week? See you on the bridge.
Cheers,

I want to try one last time this Saturday 11/17/07 before Thanksgiving. Any reports?

good luck! I switch to smelting now. Smelt is tasty too.
Hey Johnat, Haven't been squiding for a couple weeks. Last time spent 2 hours and I was skunked. Have heard varied reports from locals, weathertime seems to play a factor. In all, Sounds like its really winding down. Although, I may also try one last time this weekend depending on weather/temp. Good Luck.

The water temp is 52. It is the same temperature as the spring run which is 48 to 52 from late April to early May.
The weather will be chilly this week end, not a problem if the wind isn't blowing.
