How many ways are there to retrieve a jig?

I'm not a big time squid fisher, I've been twice and had great success.



I used a relatively small razor back about 2 yrs ago and pulled in about 10 squid the size of a forearm in 30 minutes.



I was watching some TV show on tbs and watching some guy hooking up like 4 squid once. It didn't seem like he was retrieving them.



I'm was under the impression the best way to retrieve the squid jig was to let it sink, bring it up a bit, let it sink, bring it up a bit etc...



So I was wondering what methods you guys use.

Ahoy there maties....



Awesome Clip. All the squid I have ever caught (all four of them) have been caught on artificial jigs just left to bob in 10 metres of water without any jigging.



Also it is interesting that Lavalife dating has made it onto this site...are there many lonely fishos out there then? ....Aaargh

yeah... sometimes i have to laugh at the ads that appear as well. they are supposed to "geo-targeted" so the ads you see in australia will be different to the ones displayed in other countries. so hopefully the lavalife ads are not being seen all over the world! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

That guy in the clip does a show called "Adventure Bound" on TVS (ch 31) a free to air community station in Sydney (Australia). The show 2 days ago he was catching MASSIVE Kingfish off Jervis Bay,using Frigate Mackeral as BAIT!!!.He specialises in catching the very largest fish.Seen episodes where he's got 60lb Mulloway and 8lb Salmon and school Sharks 4-5ft long. As for jigging technique......from a boat or in a current it is possible to allow the jig to drift.However I do most of my squidding in the harbour in shallow water from the shore.So Iusually drift the jig down and when it gets near the bottom retrieve it with a couple of quick flicks,allow it to settle and repeat the process until Ican see the jig and tell if a squid is following.If there is , <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> I just hold the jig steady with a very occaisional flick
