Can You Eat The Tentacles?
#1
Hi. I've joined this forum because I just bought a squid and I have no idea what to do with it. Following online instructions, I've removed everything from it, and now it's a white slab. But I kept the tentacles, because I thought they might be nice to eat too. But I'm not sure if they are edible. Can they be eaten?

I also haven't managed to remove all the skin from the squid. Does that matter?

If this is a regular calamari then absolutely you can eat the head and tentacles. If you're talking about humboldt squid then no. The suction cups on the humboldts have teeth. You have to remove the skin on all squid specially the humboldt since they also have a membrane under the skin and on the inside of the tube. Hope that helps.

I've eaten every part of the squid so far except for the eyes and mouth area which have hardbeaks. I don't even remove the skin. In South East Asia, we make squid soup and use the squid ink as one of the ingredients. It taste good.
