I been studying it every year since 1999. Every year it seems to come quicker. 2 years ago it was April 23 first day hit. Last year it was April 21. This year Ill be out there on my private vessel from April 15-20.

[color="brown"] The Causeway was empty. The Newport bridge was foged out. You could not even see the lights. I thought of taping a squid to my line and taking a picture. Had the camera date stamp ready too. So It would be almost believable. What do you think? And to all you squidheads ..... NOT I was there![/color]

Frances Fleet will start squid trips on May 1st.
I believe that is a thursday so I might go that saturday. Anyone else interested? Squid Fishing Reservations Required Night squid fishing has become very popular over the last few years. The boat lights attract the squid and the after-dark action begins! Light tackle and a variety of squid jigs are all you need to jig up some of these tasty treats. Prices: All fares $40.00 Rod rental $5.00 Times: 7:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. Thurs., Fri., Sat. & Sun. Evenings Season: May 1 - June 15: Tackle: Variety of squid jigs

Thats not to say I wouldn't try but I like being able to come and go as i please if the bite sucks so I stick to the shore

I agree, I would rather take my chances onshore also. I havent heard of any very good catches onboard last year on any boat.

This weekend brings us the best salt water fishing show in the area.
