#21
Hi everyone,

When would you say the squid season officially begins in Newport this year? Has anyone been catching anything so far?

Please let me know.

Anyone want to carpool with me from South Shore to Newport ? Gas is getting expensive nowadays.

[/quote]

I'm in Wareham. I'd be happy to drive if you want to meet up as I head west on nites we're on the same schedule.

Hi busterblue, how are you? where is south shore/ Wareham? JOHNAT and I come from New Haven.

busterblue: I'm in Randolph so I take 24S, it may be out of the way, but if you ever do striper@capecod, let me know, or maybe Onset for claming ? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I order several Pheromone Skin Duel Yo-Zuri Squid jig and Aurie-Q jigs from Sydney, AU (tym1 sold one to me last year, I make a killing with his jig, he boughts from AU). The shipping cost just way too much, but oh well... got to pay for the hobby right.

Great, Johnat and I are getting ready. How was your winter? maybe johnat and I will have a generator this year. This year I believe we are going to catch allot. I will have to get a couple new recipes. See you in Newport.

SFoxnh, I suppose the hassle of working out schedules and being responsible to someone elses schedule just to meet in Fall River wouldn't be worth the gas saved. I'd be happy to fish my nbhd with you. I didn't get a clamming license this year, they closed long beach and that was the only spot I knew.

SS, I remember tht you guys are from NHaven. Wareham is just before the cape if you head east on 195 from prov. If you picture cape cod as an arm with plymouth as the shoulder then Wareham is in the armpit. I'm 8 miles form the canal.

Bring me some recipes, my portuguese friend whose wife cooked that awesome stuffed squid fr me last year just got divorced. Good for him but I need a new cook!

Winters been good as winter goes. Went S and did some fishing; nothing as spectacular as in years past. Bought some new gear, haven't got the new boat yet.

Newbi here. Busterblue I am in your area. I keep my boat in the Wareham River and have a place in Parkwood. I noticed your post last year about getting skunked in the area. Do you know if there is any action down our way? I am in a fishing club that meets in MAttapositt and the guys claim they get them there off the town dock. Any idea of what the tide shoud be for fishing these guys? Any help would be great.

Newbi, I'm in the BBAnglers too. On my way into the mtg last thursday I met another guy, Bill r who lives in Bourne and keeps his boat off of Pinehurst. I caught my biggest squids in Onset last year but got the most poundage by the hour (of fishing) in newport. I tried AMtion with little success, didn't try Mattapoisett. Some nites its worth the drive to Newport. Its always "worth the drive" to Onset .....cause if they're not there I can go to MArc Anthony's for a beer and some 'zah or back home to wwatch the sox. I think I did best on the rising tide but I tend to fish whenever I can and I don't keep a log of my squid fishing.

I vote for something heavier like IPA, HArpoon, Sammy... but if you and John bring the generator to go with my new lites you can each have 2 votes
