hi all,

first time asking a question in this forum. My husband and I are planning to go squid fishing on Monday. Do you think it will be worth the trip. It seems this year I have read that no one has done well. in years past we have caught 200 in a few hours, last year maybe 80. If anyone can give me some info i would appreciate it. I will be checking back later.

thanks <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' />
Just got back from my first Frances Fleet trip. Me and my Uncle got a total of 25, I guess thats pretty bad. People in the back of the boat was red hot, filling up 5 gallon buckets. While people on the sides were getting ok hits and people in the front (where we was) was barely getting any hits. There was a lot of people on the boat about 80 people barely any room.
I also went last night on the Frances Fleet, got 46 squid. Had to work hard to get them to bite but it was a good time. The water was like a mirror. Great conditions.

I was the guy in the yellow rain suit in case anyone recognized me.

I too was on the Frances Fleet, I was on the port side almost near the back wearing a grey fleece, well it was til I got inked a several times. Was a great night, water was mirror and once I figured what I was doing wrong, the squid were flying. I got 3/4 full pail. I seen a few full large coolers, but do not know how many guy's were workin it. I could have fished all night...... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' />

Hey Somerville, did you guy's get out this past week? I was lookin for ya on the frances fleet sat night......The boat had 80+ people on it and I walked around once or twice lookin for familiar faces. I still have a reflector saved for you if you still want one.

Yea you guys were hitting them. I meet a lot of guys upfront from CT, and they where doing shitty like us. One of the mates came over around 11:30 and gave us a tip about letting stay 10ft under the water. Soon as he said that I got 10 before we left.

I might give it another try tonight or next weekend.
OK guys, I'm back, Left RI 1630 for NC, Arrived in NC at 0730, hooked up left NC at 0830, arrived in Attleboro at 0030. what a ride. But the boat looks better than I thought, ready to go. Some buddies of mine were on the francis fleet on fri. Got about 50# between 4 guys

Hey Pearldiver, We went down to the bridge on Thursday overnight and only caught about 30 squid with 4 people. Not a great night. About half were pretty small too. I wanted to go to the frances fleet on saturday, but I forgot I had a graduation party to go to. I'm considering trying it out this Thursday, especially after the good reports over the weekend.

Yea, I am still interested in buying one of those reflectors. It might be hard to coordinate when we're both goin go down so late in the season though, so sell them off if you get the chance, but if not, maybe we will meet up again down in RI. Let me know if the Thursday Frances Fleet trip would work for you.

If you go on Frances Fleet Thursday try to be in the back or near back of the boat. I went Saturday and Sunday the back was pretty hot.

Sunday I was on the side near the back and caught 80 squids. Saw a guy caught 3 flounders but one of them had been fillet.
I got out w/ Snaildarter (bob) and his buddy jeff yesterday for both fluke and squid. We did pretty well w/ both, but the squid bite was pretty good out of point judith. We could see the francesfleet not to far from us. We were the boat that lit up the entire area <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' />

Was great to meet and fish with you Bob. Thanks again!
